I think alot of them are being reasonable, but they should feel disappointed. They were really close to being a 10 win team.
Things are changing over in Ames, i see them being a consistent 6-8 win team going forward as long as Campbell stays in town.
I think he'll be there for the long haul.
Pile up the 6-8 win seasons, bowl games and the occasional 10 win season. Less pressure then at top tier job. Basically he has the Iowa job with even less expectations.
To me the big name jobs are less appealing now to some coaches due to the hot trigger...
Dabo has it made at Clemson. Can literally use how weak the confrence is to sell recruits on an almost guaranteed playoff appearance.
Iowa State probably would be top 3 in the confrence, that says alot about the ACC
Had the potential to be big season for them.
Surprised their offense was as efficient after losing those guys early to the draft.
I guess we'll really see what Campbell is building next year, he loses quite a bit, especially on that offensive line.
I thought (and maybe this has changed) for a bowl to select a team over another in the pecking order the confrence has to have all bowl slots filled (9)and no extra. Right now BIG has 8 bowl eligible teams so we would need 1 more team eligible for the bowls to go out of conference finish order.
There would need to be some significant losses ahead to squeeze into the top10 imo, again not impossible. But the next 2 wins aren't going to really push us
I get that, but an outside perspective is also good. (Just using the hypothetical of Campbell) his staff has alot of ties to Ohio. Bringing in an outside coach could open up our recruiting footprint.
