Iowa legend George Kittle rips Nebraska

Compton from Barstool is good friends with Kittle, but he fired the first shot and sent it to him right before the game. So, ol George was just sending a shot back. I hope George is right about us running it down their throats.

Matt Rhule - Iowa Week Interview

Blue Collar DeJean. And who knows, how we develop, he could end up being Cooper DeJean 2.0. I like the kid. Around the ball all the time.

Matt Rhule - Iowa Week Interview

I think Phil asks a lot of his safeties, however, in the past, we have always had someone that still was fundamental with tackling. Nwampa always seemed to be that second tackler that would fly in and throw a shoulder in. It always made me nervous it would come down to him to making a tackle or...

    Bassett

Of course. I'm sure his mom made her demands. Bassett seems to have a bit of the Proctor Syndrome. I also know they were leveraging his brother committing to the same program.

Matt Rhule - Iowa Week Interview

My son goes to SEP. We are transplants so not originally from here. He was a big Nwampa guy at first until I pointed out how he does not wrap and like you mentioned often misses or knocks a would be tackler out. It's maddening how he just flies around throwing his shoulder into ball carriers...

Matt Rhule - Iowa Week Interview

I think they were saying Johnson leads the league and is pretty high up in yards after contact. So hopefully we wrap up. Very impressed with his skillset. Hoping Parker challenges the defense and we show out. Nebby has had this game circled. Let's make it 10 out of 11.

"IF" this is indeed Kirk's swan song, who do you want?

Eh more of sentimental comment. My hope it's someone that truly understands and is committed to continuing the culture. We shall see. Ideally, I still hope this is all speculation and KF sees it through 2027. But the more it's talked about, I fear where there's smoke there's fire. Making mention...

I would love to see LaVar get it and retain Lester and the rest of the staff. Obviously, Phil likely rides off with KF. Maybe Fitz takes a DC job to get back into coaching? Or Wallace slides into the DC spot. I would think that the best scenario to keep the culture here.

    Bassett

Did I miss something? I thought Bassett was destined for Nebby? I see he signed with VaTech?

Yeah, not really sure what he did, but there seems to be some friction almost between Bert and Iowa. His personality seemed have some arrogance and almost disdain toward Iowa. Maybe that's just his personality, but I don't see him as a good fit honestly. Yet, from what I am hearing, he has a...

"IF" this is indeed Kirk's swan song, who do you want?

Mark Stoops and he brings his brother along? Or Bobby Stoops and Mark and him come home? A rumor also was going around that Fitz has residence in North Liberty or IC area? Anyone confirm?

Their 2026 class is showing some promise in recruiting. Addressing needs. A quarterback, couple linebackers, couple defensive backs and some offensive linemen. Granted with the NIL and portal that can change tomorrow. However, he would be leaving the program in a much better situation than...

I think when you speak to KF's legacy/culture, he would want very badly for a continuation what he has worked so hard to build and what Hawkeye football is known for. I'm sure there has been conversations with Beth and him about this and a possible successor. The question I wonder about has KF...

"IF" this is indeed Kirk's swan song, who do you want?

Parker has stated in past interviews he rides off in the sunset with KF when he goes. I doubt that changes.

Will Iowa ever have a QB that can throw

Love his mentality. Humble. Positive and a winner. The kid is a leader. There's a reason why he has the locker room. He may not have insane numbers, but he plays within the system and makes plays when needed. I still think he has cemented his name as a legend with the Hawkeyes for what he has done.

    Averie Lower

It could have came down to that Coach Jensen got the players she wanted and potentially there was not room for her. Not that she is a lesser player, but other players may have been more of a fit. Obviously, the CC Effect and the recent success of the women's team has likely boosted recruiting.

Will Iowa ever have a QB that can throw

I really wonder how much this labrum injury has affected his ability to throw. You watch old vids of him and he definitely can throw the ball. I also recall him mentioning the knee brace affects his ability to throwing. I make no excuses though. I think our expectations were much higher for...

Will Iowa ever have a QB that can throw

We just got a UCLA de-commit out of Florida, Xavier Stinson, who is a receiver. 6'3/205. I think he's a 3 star, but seemed to have a few other notable offers. I do know we have some decent O-linemen coming in too. Also throw in a stacked tight end room. I think we are turning the corner.

    USC Loss

Great points. I think the talent gap with the linebackers is the most glaring. I think Fry mentioned this is the least talented group for years. Maybe before the Outlaw Josey Jewell? Traditionally we have always had playmakers at that position and it's a "next man in" approach. Not this year...

Iowa set for major early season test at National Duals Invitational

In similar ways, Gable had many many wrestlers that graduated and took coaching positions at other programs and built them up. Besides John Smith, Harold Nichols, and a few others, Iowa was THE program for quite some time and was so dominant. However, Gable grew the sport and many of his...
