    Can we take a moment...

If only another certain program was on the list.....

    KF retiring?

I'm not implying that he's "faking" anything. He genuinely loves the program. He genuinely loves coaching. He genuinely loves the players. But, if you think that a coach can't experience and emote all of the above while still planning on retiring at the end of a season, you're naïve.

    KF retiring?

Think about that for a minute. What else is he supposed to say? Any smart, experienced coach knows how important it is to not show his hand during a season. That would have major ramifications, particularly with recruiting and maintaining the current roster. Parents would be on the phone in a...

    KF retiring?

I agree completely, but we need some context here. Speculating on whether or not Kirk hangs it up after this season doesn't necessarily imply that it is the hope. I posted a thread several weeks ago that my gut feeling is that this season is Kirk's last, not because I'm hoping for it, but it's...

    Addison Bjorn

Obviously, top-ranked players leave our state for a variety of reasons, but NIL will always be a major factor. I wasn't able to find anything specific about the Iowa women's program, so perhaps you have a source, but this is what I was able to find (Notre Dame has huge resources so I think it...

Is Oregon Going To Take Iowa Seriously?

I see the elements as a factor, but not a huge one by any stretch. As pointed out, it sounds like this Saturday's weather conditions will be very similar to typical NW weather this time of year. No one on their team is cold/wet weather "naive." If the weather is miserable for the crowd, that...

    Christmas Movies

That's an awesome tradition. We have tried over the years, but haven't been able to get our kids on board. Nevertheless, Lampoon is always watched in our house at least once per season. Personally, I can't watch "A Christmas Story" anymore. Not a bad Xmas movie, but it became oversaturated...

    Everyone Else Game Thread

Yeah, both of those plays were about as close as I've ever seen on replay. On that one, you see the tip of the left part of the ball hit the forearm causing the ball to elevate slightly on contact. the mid portion of the ball can't be seen in the debris but obviously comes very close to the...

    Everyone Else Game Thread

In fairness, it's kind of a, "damned if you do, damned if you don't," scenario for them. It's impossible to take subjectivity out of it. Even "clear evidence" is open to interpretation. In the majority of cases, replay works, and, without it, a higher percentage of teams will get screwed, but...

Phil Parker makes noteworthy comment about Oregon’s NIL

Any action that the NCAA tries to take, or "agreements" between universities in an attempt to constrain reimbursements for the athletes, clearly will be deemed anti-trust violations. The ONLY way to get control of the disparate funding that results in unfair advantages is to establish a system...

    Everyone Else Game Thread

Did anyone else catch the Florida-Georgia game? There were two plays that were about as close as I've ever seen on replay. The first was a Georgia running back stretching the ball out as he was tackled and losing control of the ball. Call on the field was down by contact, but the replay shows...

    More or less likely?

If Iowa wins out or only loses one more game, does it make it more or less likely that Kirk hangs it up? I'll go with more likely. I think Kirk would prefer to go out on a high note.

    Expert-Level Troll Job...

In a similar story, Todd Lickliter is rumored to be at the top of the short list for the Portland Trailblazers head coach position after it became apparent that Chauncey Billups will soon mysteriously come up missing after meeting with mob representatives at a local restaurant...

    Who’s defense MVP? So far

I'd have a tie between Lutmer and Graves. Hall has had a nice season, but there are some caveats there. Our pass-rush has been better than expected, which benefits the DBs obviously, and he's forced to play with quite a bit of cushion due to limited speed. Against the premier teams, that can be...

4-star QB decommits from Boise State after Iowa football visit

We'll see. There is just something about him. He has a Stetson Bennet/Dillon Gabriel vibe about him. If you look at those two careers, both were very successful and similar in size. Just a feeling.

4-star QB decommits from Boise State after Iowa football visit

I've developed a certain trust level with Lester. I think he'll recruit guys who he envisions being succesful in his system. That said (you heard it here first), assuming no injury issues, Hecklinski is going to explode on the scene next season and will be a huge fan-favorite. Write it down.

I think Fleck missed his calling as an infomercial peddler.
  20. #1DieHardHawk

    Floyd thread

I think Fleck genuinely respects and admires Kirk. While he would never admit it, my guess is that Kirk respects what he has done but is not fond of him at all. The whole "3 consecutive TOs at the end of the game" scenario was purely a reaction to his annoyance with Fleck, who - on 4th down...
