So who's having the worst Sunday...

To carry on the metaphor of Cig being the BTen's modern-day equivalent of Hayden Fry: after Fry went to the Rose Bowl in year 3 at Iowa, if Michigan or Ohio State came calling with busloads of cash, would he have left Iowa City?

Deion’s great response to finding out the fine for fans rushing the field

I don't know what Dion was doing prior to being hired as the CO coach, but it sure wasn't watching much college football. This week I think he said he didn't even know Iowa State was the 'Cyclones'.

    KF Tenure and future

I have no idea how much longer KF will be HC....and neither does anyone else. My guess is that not even KF knows -- he seems like the type of guy who will step down "when it feels right". I DO know this: beating rival Wisconsin four years in a row, with the last two being absolute POUNDINGS...

    KF Tenure and future

Does that sound like something KF would do? He and Barta? Maybe. But with a new A.D. who personally fired his son?? Uhh.....no.

Week 7 Depth Chart vs Wisconsin

This is a game where Iowa really needed RB Patterson. Vs the #1 rush defense in the nation (!), the best strategy is to hit the hole hard, straight, and fast -- which is his style. If Iowa's RBs dance around, they'll be lucky to top 50 yds. Michigan did put up 175 on the ground last Saturday...

That hit on Mendoza by Nwankpa

This happened right in front of me, and it was actually WORSE than what you see on the video. Nwankpa was boxed in and was kept from returning to the field, as you say, but he was then blatantly PUSHED to the ground. One of the refs runs in, and then, unbelievably -- and you can't really see...

Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti previews Iowa football, taunts Illinois after blowout

I haven't watched the Nits this season, but Oregon hasn't overly impressed me to this point. At Evanston, in that h.s. stadium they're playing in, the Cats hung with the Ducks for the 1st half. Oregon started really slow, NW drives ate up a lot of clock, and late 1st quarter NW was driving to...

Wisconsin Fans Booing Team Down 20 at Half

I see more than a few similarities with Cig and Hayden Fry. Both came from smaller programs, both brought some staff with them who knew the style and type of program he wanted to build, not intimidated by any other BTen team or blue blood program, an intense desire to be the best in the BTen...

Hawkeyes vs Indiana Week 5 Depth Chart

I'd like to hear from whoever put together the depth chart this week why RB Washington is listed ahead of Patterson. Versus Iowa St. and Rutgers, Washington had 6 total carries for 8 total yds. Patterson has balled out every game this season when given the chance. As a former WR, I can...

    Odds Against Indiana

Illinois had their QB sitting back in the pocket like a sitting duck. If Iowa leaves Gron in the pocket for anything other than screen passes or quick slants or drop-offs to the RBs, he'll be cooked too. Fortunately, we have a QB who can roll out to either side, which they'll need to do A LOT.

Wisconsin Fans Booing Team Down 20 at Half

12.5 pt favorites. I thought it was an unusually large spread, but nobody really knew if Maryland was decent or not -- they typically collapse once the BTen season starts.

    Odds Against Indiana

Yep -- so they'll no doubt be better prepared on Saturday. That said, their current starting QB transferred in from Cal, so he's never played a game before 70,000 screaming fans before. Our only hope is that he gets a little flustered and/or they make some penalties and get off-schedule...

Gronowske's stats surprisingly consistent for last two games

Except for Washington, whose 6 total carries in the Iowa St. and Rutgers games resulted in a grand total of 8 yds. I hope he doesn't play another down at RB this year. That he started the Iowa St. game was a terrible coach's decision, and very unfortunate for the team. Re Gron's stats: if you...

    For The Notre Dame Fans….

If by "high character" you mean instructing players to fake injuries when they run out of timeouts at the end of games. Since 2019, MN's win total (not counting the Covid year) is 11, 9, 9, 6, 8. That's gonna keep most coaches in the BTen on the job, outside of OSU, Penn St., Oregon, and...

Very Nice End Zone View of Wetjen's Punt Return...Boom

That IS a cool view of the punt return -- gives just a glimpse of the incredible vision needed to be an elite returner. The blocked punt couldn't have come at a better time! Rutgers LIVES on blocked punts -- they had TWO of them yesterday for TDs -- and now, after having one blocked, the Hawks...

    Couple of Surprises

I can't remember the last time Iowa had a punt blocked at Kinnick -- feels like it's been along time. Actually, that block was a total blessing in disguise. Rutgers specializes in blocking punts -- 2 blocked in their game yesterday -- and getting our punt blocked last night means the Hawks...
