2020 Recruiting Class - Ratings Bump

Yes Ogundele is the lowest rated. He had some injuries this year that slowed him down. Perkins had an awesome year, he was on a super good team with a ton of talent around him. Ulis also tore it up including leading his team to a playoff win over powerhouse Bloom, who has like 5 P6 players on...

2020 Recruiting Class - Ratings Bump

As another reference point, those four guys all rank higher than Toussaint did last year, and he’s looking like a recruiting hit at this point.

2020 Recruiting Class - Ratings Bump

Interesting note. 247 just updated their ranking and Ulis, Perkins, and the Murray’s (as noted in another thread), all received ranking bumps. If you look at Iowa’s all time commits Ulis is now 11th (right behind Garza), and Perkins/Murray’s round out the top 25 at 23, 24, and 25. It’s looking...

    Murray Twins

I think you redshirt the Murray’s and Perkins. Ogundele won’t play much but need another big body in certain situations. The question really becomes if Perkins is okay taking a redshirt.

Where should Iowa's scoring come from?

    Garza- 23 Wieskamp- 15 Fredrick- 11 Bohannon- 9 Toussaint- 6 C McCaffery- 6 Nunge- 6 P McCaffery- 4 Freshman- 2 That’s 82 points, and most of those numbers are pretty conservative.

Iowa Football Well Positioned for Nebraska Athlete Keagan Johnson

It’s very easy to see when you watch his film that he’s not a college QB. That would be a waste of what appears to be a very good looking prospect. Luckily it doesn’t sound like that’s the plan.

Iowa Football Well Positioned for Nebraska Athlete Keagan Johnson

I have to believe that Iowa locking down their 2020 class very early last year helped the staff focus time and resources on this 2021 class, which has paid some dividends here. Hopefully that carryovers to next year, however the scouting aspect is going to be tough with limited camps and...

STORY: Hawkeyes Pull Wide Receiver Keagan Johnson Out of Nebraska

Out of the 3 WRs we have now committed, and possibly a fourth is we land Skyler Bell, I like Keagan’s tape the best. He’s got a good burst and can make plays after the catch. I can see the ISM comparison however he doesn’t have those wheels, but is likely more physical than ISM.

Howe: 10 Players I'm Excited to Watch When Hawkeye Football Returns

I don’t disagree with that. Have to get a consistent running game.

Iowa Football Well Positioned for Nebraska Athlete Keagan Johnson

We’ve been in on several QBs that have committed elsewhere. Not entirely surprising considering we have a Sophomore penciled into start this year and just brought in Deuce Hogan in the 2020 class.

Iowa Football Well Positioned for Nebraska Athlete Keagan Johnson

I think Iowa is only going to take one RB in this class from the sounds of it. They are all in and sit very well on a potential high 4*star type back Arlen Harris Jr from Missouri in the 2022 class, and that may be a selling point. Kid has offers from LSU, Penn State, and Michigan already.

Howe: 10 Players I'm Excited to Watch When Hawkeye Football Returns

Tyrone Tracy. Cool name, cool number, big play threat, stepped up huge when B Smith went down and he was only a freshman! If Tracy can clean up the drops and keep improving elsewhere, then wow, just a matter of BF/Petras getting him the ball. I have to say I’m super high on the receiving core...

Please Place ?s for 5-6 Mailbag Pod Here

Any idea on how heavy Logan Lee is these days? I kind of look at his move to DT similar to Linderbaum at Center where you just have to know the staff knows what they are doing. The way they talk about the kid I think they are pretty high on him. Last years program listed him at 251, I’d...

Howe: 10 Players I'm Excited to Watch When Hawkeye Football Returns

Top true freshman that I think have a chance to play in over 4 games: -Yelverton (Snaps available at TE) -Logan Jones (Think there is time available at DT if he can get enough weight on) -Leshon Williams (Thunder to Goodson’s Lightning?) -Deontae Craig (pass rushing specialist) -Reggie...

Howe: 10 Players I'm Excited to Watch When Hawkeye Football Returns

Interesting idea. I’ll do a couple. My favorite players (as always, subject to change): -Tyrone Tracy Jr -Tyler Goodson -Chauncey Golston -Ihmir Smith-Marsette -Daviyon Nixon -Joe Evans -Tyler Linderbaum -Sam LaPorta -Brandon Smith -Matt Hankins Guys that I’m excited to see more of that...

Iowa Football Well Positioned for Nebraska Athlete Keagan Johnson

I’m with Ohhawk on this one. Top 25 range seems more realistic. If we landed Fidone and Benny we’d maybe have a shot at Top 15. Gotta understand we have a lot of commits already. LSU, Texas, ND, Georgia, Oregon, Texas A&M, Oklahoma all sit behind us currently with way less commits. They along...

Iowa Football Position Preview: Looking at Special Teams

Not a bad thought. Doesn’t look like there will be many reps at WR for him so would be a chance to carve out a role. McKinney who was mentioned in the article is intriguing as well. King and Hyde were two DBs that excelled in that role.

Iowa Football Position Preview: Looking at Special Teams

I wasn’t able to get the link to work but I agree we should have a strong special teams group. I would not be surprised to see Duncan have a down year however, or a reversion to the mean. There have been many instances is kickers putting it together for one year but then falling way off after...

Ankeny Receiver Brody Brecht Commits to Hawkeyes

I’m not sure on Rivals, I think the 247 rating and their composite rankings are the best. Recruiting rankings aren’t perfect as we know, but they aren’t total garbage either. There is some speculation too that maybe some recruits think Matt Campbell might be heading for greener pastures after...

B1G Extends Suspension of Organized Team Activities

The statistic to keep an eye on will be positive tests as a percentage of total tests. Due to lack of demand of people with symptoms many states are allowing anyone to get tested. If you do 5xs more tests in a day but only see marginal new case growth that’s actually a good thing, although I’m...
