I might be mixed up what year you are talking about, but I believe The 1958 Iowa team went to the 1959 Rose Bowl and beat Cal. The Football writers of America ranked Iowa #1, so Iowa claims 1958 as a national championship. Although the coaches and AP polls did not have Iowa #1.
Wow, they were so bad, they had zero catches and still managed somehow to have negative yards. I have to admit that is pretty bad.
But seriously PSU's offense reminded me a lot of Iowa's old offense under BF with the Big NFL TE making all the catches, except PSU's QB could run a little
Sullivan seems to like to throw interceptions a little more than the average Iowa QB. It burned Iowa against UCLA and his pick in the bowl game killed momentum when Iowa had the lead on Mizzou. Also his constant running and taking hard tackles gets him.hurt sooner or later.
Other than that...
Lester has said wetjen has had problems running routes, which has kept him out of the WR rotation. Recently the light bulb may have finally clicked on for the kid, which why we finally saw him playing some offensive plays in the bowl game. If he does not get hurt, and if sticks around at...
Interesting that Tim Polasek is now Cam Miller's head coach. Was Pollasek still on the Iowa staff when Miiller was being recruited?
Also interesting that Iowa's offense seemed to take a big nose dive after Polasek and KOK both left the Iowa staff, but maybe I am getting off the subject.
I have a friend that has been convinced there is a distopian future coming for as long as I have known him. To the point where he almost seems to be rooting for society to collapse just so his prediction comes true.
I also find it bizarre that the ones that seem to be convinced that a...
Interesting choice. I assume the game will be on national TV due to JuJu Watkins coming to town.
Edit: oh duh, I am a little slow. The date was probably chosen because it's February 2nd, or 2-2, which of course is Clark's number, 22.
You must be talking about Jon Beutjer. Went to high school in Wheaton
Unless you mean Tim Lester? He also went to high school in Wheaton..
Although Lester technically was a college QB at WMU before coming to Iowa as a coach.
I could be wrong but I think they are both on active rosters right now. CJB just got picked up by Jacksonville again after Trevor Lawernce went out with a season ending injury. I think CJB is 2nd string behind Mac Jones.
Along with getting rid of the byes for conference champions I would like to change the brackets so that more emphasis is placed avoiding rematches and avoiding inner-conference matches in the first 2 rounds .
Just pick seeds in groups of 4.
The four #1 seeds would get first round byes.
The...
The high number of turnovers made Iowa look just awful.
Yes, Iowa had issues handling the press while the lady volunteers being were overly aggressive with (mugging?) the Iowa players as they brought the ball upcourt, but that was only half the problem.
Jan Jenson kept telling the girls to...
Iowa 2025 football schedule
Non conference
Albany, UMass, @iowa St
Big ten home games
Ind, Mich St, Minn, Oregon, Penn St
Big Ten Road games
@Neb, @Rut, @USC, @Wisc
Yeah, 2025 could be rough. Looks like 5-7 to me.
Yes, but occasionally you still have that Saquon Barkley type that gets drafted high in the first round, although I admit Barkley is an exception.
Kaleb Johnson has that unique combo of being both a big back and also super fast. Although he has not been totally injury free, so that might hurt...
I was thinking the same thing. How does Drew Ott feel about all of these players getting 6 or 7 years?
If Ott wanted to, they should let Ott come back to Iowa to play a 5th year.
