    The Official Selection Show Thread

Correct, there are different rules I guess for low/mid majors. You don't have to beat anyone special.

    Lunardi finally "made his bed"

If Middle Tennessee makes it, and I think they will, it means one of the 2 must be true : It is a myth that you have to actually beat someone and racking up wins over poor teams can get you in or There is a special exception for low/mid majors. one of those 2 have to be true for Middle...

    NIT FIELD/SEED PREDICTIONS

With college basketball becoming much more even every year, the NIT field seems to improve. A lot of good teams in this field, will be worth watching.

Who's the bracketologist that has been perfect?

On the bracket project, Iowa is in 4 of the 88 brackets published. They also mention on there that 3 teams in the last 7 years were in less than 10% of the brackets and made it. Iona last year was barely on the experts radar, but the made it.

It really comes down to 2 things, go by the computer/SOS, or go by the eyeball

Not saying Iowa isn't in, I think they have a small chance, just saying their fate is probably sealed at this point one way or another.

It really comes down to 2 things, go by the computer/SOS, or go by the eyeball

As much as I like the effort, I don't think any games matter anymore for Iowa. The committee has likely already got the 68 done. Today's work is seeding them. I think the RPI updates for the committee are done.

Last bubble spot up for grabs

You might be right, but pretty much everybody has those 2 in now. I think St. Marys is very overrated and would love to play them. I actually think Middle Tennessee might sneak in to the last at large spot like Iona did last year. I think Iowa has a strong case against all of these teams. I...

    Jerry Palm likewise. Not strong.

3 of the 4 computers are our strongest arguing point.

Bubble teams as of this morning based

Iowa is still on the last 4 out of several bubble list, and 'in' on a couple. My favorite 'expert' is Brad Evans of Yahoo, who is very good at this. He has Iowa as the 39th at large, 2 spots from being in. We probably are going to be a bit short.

Last bubble spot up for grabs

Looking at the expert picks, they pretty much agree on 67 of 68 teams. St. Marys, LaSalle, Mississippi & Boise seem to be the consensus 'in'. Most of them disagree on the last spot : Middle Tennessee, Tennessee, Kentucky, Iowa, UMass, S-Miss, Alabama & Maryland I would put one the 2 Tenn...

Don't dismiss the NCAA Tournament talk...

I really hope this is the tiebreaker for the bubble, because Iowa beat #28 WIS. Several bubble teams have not beat a top 50 team, let alone top 30. I don't really understand why people think Iowa is the only team on the bubble with flaws. Every team on the bubble has major flaws in their resume.

6 spots, 12 teams, who you got ?

I think there is 6 spots left for 12 teams (13 if you include Middle Tenn ST, but I actually don't think they will be strongly considered with no significant wins) Mississippi Kentucky Alabama Tennessee Iowa Maryland Virginia Oklahoma LaSalle St. Marys Boise St S-Mississippi My predictions ...

    Iowa current RPI 70!!!

It still effects everything, because OWP only increases by .6 (home win) instead of 1 (neutral win). Small difference, but when your dealing with fraction numbers in the RPI, it does change when entered correctly the next day.

    Lunardi's S-Curve plus Bubble scenarios

Lunardi likes St. Marys much more than most people. If they make it, they will barely make it.

It is frustrating when you look at our top 50 wins against some of these teams.

    Iowa current RPI 70!!!

Believe me, Wisconsin helped Iowa slightly, it just deosn't always show.

    Iowa current RPI 70!!!

I hope they at least realize there function is to look from all angles (all 4 computer polls, eyeball test, top 50 record, bad loses, etc). If we are just using the RPI, a computer could fill out the brackets and nobody needs to meet at all.
