I enjoy it when Iowa wins, but I've come to learn when they aren't very good it really isn't that important. When De Paul blew them out it didn't bother me at all. I guess Iowa won't win the national championship this year.
Considering Iowa had five commitments the ranking is pretty bad. You never know how these guys will turn out though. Only time will tell. I imagine there are schools with a couple of commitments that had higher rankings.
I really don't think Fran coached Tyler Cook with an NBA career in mind. Fran seems to be pretty good at what he does, but he also appears to be 1 dimensional. He doesn't appear to be very imaginative.
Iowa does have a lot of either slow players or a coaching style that makes them look slow with the exception of Toussaint. Next years recruiting class looks about the more of the same, but I haven't seen them play yet.
I think the guy just loves the attention. He will get a lot more attention picking Iowa state when he was favored on picking Iowa. Most prima donna eighteen year olds love the attention.
I was hoping evelyn would start the first game, but it is unlikely now he will beat out the coaches son. I could see where evelyn would be kind of bummed out. If Connor is the point guard this year, its hard to believe the point guard from New York will beat him out in the years to come.
If he doesn't go to Iowa, I don't really care where he goes. The Iowa State team has gotten less under the new coaching staff so it probably wouldn't be very significant if he went there. The guy is a good player, but there are a lot of good players in college.
Hopefully, he will be a solid backup this year. I think Fran will probably play him until he can't play anymore or lose his redshirt. I imagine Fran knew Pemsl was going to redshirt last year when he was playing in the Iowa State game.
I'm hoping Evelyn will start at the point guard position. McCaffery is a part time player, and Evelyn appears to bring some attributes the team has been missing in past years. Toussaint probably needs experience.
I've enjoyed watching Bohannon play, but he isn't an NBA guy, and its possible he won't even be a guy that plays overseas. It seems reasonable to hope Evelyn and Toussaint have higher ceilings. Hopefully, he will be 100% this year and play. We didn't see Bohannon play at 100% last year.
I agree that the class doesn't sound very impressive. The two Murray guys were first and second team all state, and since that time they have supposedly grown three inches and put on twenty pounds. None of the recruits so far will probably be first round NBA Picks, but it is isn't very common...
I'm looking for Garza and Nunge both to be stars this coming year. It will be interesting to see what Garza can do a year after his surgery, and I think Nunge is a talented guy.
The schools recruiting them will have all the information available to show how they will market them, and how much more money they will make at an Ohio State or Michigan. It would make it a lot harder for a school like Iowa. It is never going to be fair though. These politicians in...
I imagine with the Pemsl arrest that Nunge will most likely be the starter next year. I thought he probably would of been anyway. Its hard to beat out a talented seven footer.
I see where Garza is listed at 260 lbs and Nunge is at 245 lbs. Pemsl is at 248 lbs, and Kriener is 255 lbs. With the added speed in the guard court they should be fun to watch this year. I don't think they will be pushed around much.
