We've been programmed to feel our defense has to pitch shutouts and score points. Anything less and we feel they struggle. This is a good offense and we held to 3 points. Offense HAS to carry some load.

What's more frustrating as that we are very likely a perennial 9+ win, West favorite with just a mediocre, average, run of the mill, 60th-70th ranked offense... with the defenses we've had recently. But as it is, we have been no higher than 88th in the last 7+ years, and currently 130th...

These are the same refs Iowa had last week. And Holy crap, they are awful.

The timing and egregiously bad nature of the calls, for an offense that has next to zero margin of error. Refs didn't cost Iowa the game, but whew, hard to say it didn't have an impact just based on when and what the calls were.

If our offense sustains a few drives, gets a few more first downs, and gets any points in the first half.... defensive performance looks a lot better. Even with giving up that first drive, and yes too many rushing yards in the game. Defense did more than solid against what likelyis a very good...

Maybe they weren't unhappy. They showed them a few times. Just didn't look thrilled, which is understandable, any family coming to watch a family member at "home", would want to see them have some plays, success, etc.. who knows, i could be completely wrong. Maybe they were just tired.

Fair Fair enough. Never really said we owe anyone targets though. I think it's reasonable that we indeed took what the defense was giving (scratched where it itched). Also, We didn't throw a lot, and too be fair some of the TE targets were to split out TEs essentially at a wr position...

If we win 8 games I'll go on record now as fully admitting I'd be very satisfied. 8 wins means 8-4, and doesn't rule out winning the West if loses are to Mich, OSU, and another East opponent. I've never been unreasonable in expectations and am 100% fine with Hawks being a perennial 8-9 win...
