    The Drive for 25

I'll never understand why conference tournament games would count but NCAA tourney wouldn't count. IMO neither should could or they should both be considered post season.

This is going to get messy

I think you're absolutely right. While many of the arguments are based on the fact the athletes are getting every thing they need to benefit in terms of free education, resources, etc... the big picture is that college athletics is a business and these athletes have the skills and intangibles...

    New thread: OC Rumormill

Hope what your buddy heard is true. From a personal/professional standpoint, leaving X's and O's out, Frost doesn't seem like the type of individual KF would seek out for his staff. Way too much baggage and and major character flaws.

    Candidates for the OC position

    Valid point lol.

    Candidates for the OC position

I'm by no means a Frost fan and would be very disappointed with the hire, but I can't see his offensive style at Iowa. Can't see KF supporting an offense built around scrambling QBs that can't make it through a season injury free. Way too much risk IMO for KF's liking. Or am I thinking a...

    Michigan game thread

Sorry for your loss. No one ever really sees eye to eye all the time on here, but over time this board starts feeling like coworkers to me where we may not all consider each other friends but I'd definitely sit down and enjoy a few beverages with anyone of you guys. One big dysfunctional...

    Michigan game thread

I'm not saying you're wrong since the press hasn't been that effective, but generating turnovers is the only chance our defense has and we simply don't do that out of a half court game.

The Good News Coming Out of the Beatdown

Great way to generate confidence is with stops on the defensive end. A lot easier to play offense when empty possessions are automatic points for the other team.

The Good News Coming Out of the Beatdown

You're right that the majority of us knew this was going to be a down year. My thought process was that with no proven go to scorer and the percentage of points we were replacing from last year I thought maybe, just maybe, there'd be some sort of emphasis on defense and getting stops. Nope...

    Joe Labas

I don't know football specifics, however in professional soccer turf contributes to 20% more non-contact injuries when compared to natural grass. I can only imagine that the percentages are higher in football.

    Center

I agree that he has the potential to be that guy in the future and will be a good low post defender and rim protector, but he's not there yet. I think it's unfair to him that he's being called out for not being that guy from day one, when it's not his fault that he's the only guy on the roster...

So Does The Bandwagon get Going

I agree with this in terms of the quality of the roster. Where Fran will get heat, and deservedly so, is the fact that defense has been and continues to be a struggle and you simply can't outscore everyone. The recruiting is going to be an issue because while young and loaded with some...

    Center

I don't see it as a matter of Fran whiffing on Freeman or Freeman failing to meet expectations. Freeman is a freshman and needs time to develop. The problem isn't one or two players, but the fact IMO that Fran has made it his priority to recruit players that are long and lengthy and can shoot...

    Hawks vs. Cyclones in Lames

I’d add the sharp shooters aren't sharp shooters on a consistent basis and the biggest glaring issue is we can’t defend.

    Hawks vs. Cyclones in Lames

Unfortunately with Bowen taking a step forward we saw Dix and Harding take steps back.

    Hawks vs. Cyclones in Lames

If by a run you mean sprint the ball down the floor after a made basket and hoist up another missed 3? Then yes. And I’m tired of watching Fran use his time outs as wisely as BF dials up plays on 3rd and long.

Iowa vs Purdue and the Giant game thread

I'd of guessed Freeman was 6'6 standing next to him. Had no idea Freeman was that tall.

Citrus Bowl - Iowa VS Tennessee

I hate having no O but absolutely love watching Iowa on D. It's the offensive side of the ball that's a snoozefest and the reason for being hungover.

    Portal needs

In this situation I don't think they're looking at Cade to be that guy on the field. I think they're looking at him to remain that leader in the locker room to help keep what talent we have out of the portal. He didn't perform as we'd hoped on the field, but there was no question that he was...
