DEACON HILL 2-0 AS A STARTER

Yep, it could be as simple as they tried it with all the RBs in camp and none of them could handle the snap very well.

DEACON HILL 2-0 AS A STARTER

I guess I wasn't saying it needed to be DeJean, but why not try a series with one of the RBs? Again, it worked for this offense in 2020 with Goodson. Sometimes he held onto it, other times I think he handed off to one of the other backs. One of the advantages is you are blocking 11 with 10...

DEACON HILL 2-0 AS A STARTER

Why not? I think it was 2020 that Iowa used the wildcat with Goodson. From what I recall, a couple times they had him run it for at least a series of downs. It was effective too. I've never understood why Brian abandoned it after 2020. It was a nice wrinkle and it worked. That said, not sure...

DEACON HILL 2-0 AS A STARTER

I wonder if Brian will explore this a bit though? Not with Labas, but possibly wildcat with one of the RBs or Dejean (assuming the other corners get healthy)....or even Lainez if the coaches feel ok with his ball security in practice. I'm talking for like a single drive and pure vanilla. Maybe...

    Bowl Game 2023

Not that it matters, but I think you could simulations right now and like 80% of them would have Iowa in the Las Vegas bowl this year. Whether they go 6-6 or 11-1 in the regular season, it feels like they'll be in the Las Vegas bowl this year. Just not a lot of options for the Hawks.

Really good game by Brian Ferentz

I gotta think there is something almost freeing about the situation for Brian. Or for any OC for that matter. Throw all the expectations out the window. Forgot about all the previous options and worrying about who might be bitching about touches. Look at who is available that week, and how they...

    We are where ...

One thing I hadn't thought of before. The Badgers are probably intimately aware of Hill's greatest weaknesses - what he really struggled with in practice. So absolutely no advantage in having a QB without much tape on him...

Washington's AD is leaving for USC

She's not leaving for UW. They just hired former UNI AD Troy Dannen after a 6 week search. But UW was also paying $1.2M or $1.3M annually, and that was before moving to the Big Ten. And its former AD left for more money at USC. So I guess we'll see what Iowa is paying for the gig. Right now...

Washington's AD is leaving for USC

Easy, my man. Easy. You're coming in pretty hot. I'm not personally offended by the situation. I find it interesting and curious - perfect for message board speculation! No need to read the thread if you aren't interested. I'm sort of intrigued by the inner workings of the athletic department...

Washington's AD is leaving for USC

If Iowa wants her as the permanent AD, and she wants the gig, then I find it odd that she still has an interim tag. Fryowa, Barta stepped down in May. Whatever "token" interviews Iowa needed to conduct could have (should have) been done months ago. Other schools conduct nationwide searches and...

    We are where ...

So do you think there is zero chance Goetz makes the call herself? I'd lean towards no right now. But I think a national embarrassment in the Big Ten title game might cause some fairly influential folks to nudge her to take action.

    We are where ...

Let me ask you guys this. I think it is fair to say there is a significant portion of the fan base who don't want the Hawks to lose or want to see them embarrassed, but have reached a point from an entertainment perspective that they want to see change in 2024 above all else. I'm not even saying...

Washington's AD is leaving for USC

Other schools are doing comprehensive, nationwide searches and hiring candidates in 6 weeks.

Can Iowa Keep Walking This Tightrope?

I like LeVar too. But there is probably more than one person alive interested in and capable of doing a good job.

Washington's AD is leaving for USC

UW just hired native Iowan and former UNI AD Troy Dannen. It's been about six weeks since the previous AD left for USC. Why again does Goetz still have an interim tag?

Can Iowa Keep Walking This Tightrope?

One thing I've always been curious about. How big of a role, if any, did Brian have in both Davis and O'Keefe "retiring"? Were they forced retirements due to Brian chirping in Kirk's ear? Or did they possibly step down because they resented the influence Brian had and often were in disagreement...

Can Iowa Keep Walking This Tightrope?

Is there any scenario in your view where Iowa hires a candidate other than LeVar Woods and the program doesn't fall completely to shit? I have a hard time thinking Kirk is knowingly tanking the program. I think LeVar and Phil would be gone by now if that was happening.

Will Riley Mulvey contribute this season?

A couple of my buddies and I had huge dreams for Ogundele and Mulvey on the court together. We wanted it so bad. We've now pivoted to wanting Mulvey to lean into his image. We want rec specs and a head band. Maybe wrist bands. And quality minutes. Pure scrap in blocking shots and getting...

Cade injury is for the course for us Iowa fans.

Wha? You must not recall the subsequent years, especially after Daniels was gone in 2011. In 2012, the Hawks had to throw out bodies like Steve Bigach on the DL, and youngsters that weren't ready like Louie Trinca-Pasat. I think they even had to throw Drew Ott in as a true freshman for a few...
