    LeVar Woods Interviews with Bucs

Wallace already had the special title of co-defensive coordinator. And he got the big raise to presumably match offers he got (or might get) to become DC at schools like Minnesota. So Wallace would have been squared away as is. If Kirk wanted to put more on Woods' plate and help grow his...

    OFFICIAL FIRE TIM LESTER THREAD

What book was the Heinz analysis in? Maybe by Malcolm Gladwell? That chapter was fascinating.

It sounds Tim Lester is the guy.

Lainez had the most rushing yards by an Iowa QB in a game in 9 years. 9 years! He did that in what, maybe 12 or 13 snaps? Don't overthink it. He at least found a way to move the ball.

I am pretty sure his name is Lester Tim.

    Iowa basketball fan support

I tend to think these renovations will be super costly, provide some immediate upgrades that are nice to have (easier access to bathrooms and ice cream), and put a few more students close to the floor. But I question what kind of long-term impact those renovations will have on the environment...

I get it, I'm not offering a realistic assessment of potential locations close to downtown. This is all sort of a fantasy. But I am curious if the university has assessed potential sites through the lens of a much smaller, 7,000-8,000 capacity footprint. Everything I recall reading in the past...

    Sports Gambling Update

Man, that's one of my main takeaways. There were ample opportunities for Sanger's superiors to shut this down based on how the information was collected and the lack of any evidence to justify the "investigative" techniques being employed. There were a lot of red flags that numerous senior folks...

    Iowa basketball fan support

I'm sure it isn't. But that's my fear, that the university dumps $100 million+ renovating Carver vs. doing it right with a new arena for $200M. It's a crappy location and a crappy design. I think the long term value of any renovations would be pretty limited.

I see Baylor's new arena is in the 7,000 to 8,000 capacity range. Perfect. Looks like it cost around $200 million. I really think there could be a partnership opportunity between the university and city with an arena close to downtown. All that TV money should help grease the skids a bit, too.

    Kadyn Proctor Speculation

We all get a tad jaded from time to time. How could you not be watching this offense? But let's not go crazy here. Leave other players out of it for now. Iowa signed the best offensive lineman in the portal, who happened to start as a true freshman for a playoff team and one of the all time...

I know there are a bunch of reasons why this won't happen, but what about an 8,000 seat arena somewhat adjacent to downtown? The university could explore a partnership with the city on the project. It'd be a boon to downtown and could host other events, concerts, etc. It'd be a symbolic venue...

Iowa Targeting January for New OC

Was Kirk required to interview any minority candidates as part of the hiring process? If he was, I wonder if he interviewed LeVar? And as part of the screening process, I wonder if Goetz gets a chance to speak with any finalist? Maybe she is urging Kirk to consider the promotion?

My Thoughts on the Proctor Story

I hope he goes to Iowa. It's also in his best interest to get several schools involved, including blue bloods who think they might have a shot to lure him away from the hometown team. Similar to the leverage the head coach and assistants have used over the year to help their situations - just...

    Kadyn Proctor Speculation

How did he do this year? Also, any speculation as to why he wants to leave? How are most of these deals structured? On a yearly basis?

    Copeland not returning

Thanks for sharing the ESPN article again. One aspect I haven't heard discussed much - do we know if there are any black candidates for the OC position? I haven't heard any, at least not among the few candidates we all keep discussing. I know things might be a little dicey between them right...

    Copeland not returning

Set up a Philbin-Chryst double hire? I wonder if they've had their OC for awhile, and new guy(s) said I need two openings for staff. And Kirk gave the fired guys a week or two to try to land spots before announcing.

    Saban Retiring

Man, talk about a great year to be Jimmy Sexton. Dude represents DeBoer, Dabo, Lanning, Sark, Mike Norvell....he can totally manipulate these high profile openings. His guys may or may not actually be interested in leaving, but he's gonna help drive the cost up for Alabama and ensure they all...

    No portal moves. Frustrating

One more reason having an incompetent offense (and philosophy) hurts this program. Iowa should have a fair number of games in which they lead by at least a couple scores. Having all these old dudes back on defense should allow Parker to give more and more reps to the backups, which would help...
