This is a good spin. After failing to use the scholarship for a recruit, he gives it to a worthy walk-on. Sends a good message to potential PWO's. But it still doesn't totally mask his failure to use the scholarship better.
It is a good theory, but is it true? It would be interesting to do some fact-checking and see how much overlap there is in the offers, as well as who offered first. Otherwise, it is just opinion.
Keep watching Stub Hub. Occasionally someone will post tickets for sale that they really want to move. And it is quite likely that the ticket prices will drop close to the game if you can take that risk. Not a lot of options in May.
Giving Jok what he wants (needs) is quite different than giving Moss what he wants (needs). Yes, I think Moss should have had an expanded role, but Moss is not Jok.
Moss's dad is trying hard to help him leave well. Hard to not like someone who is saying those sorts of things on the way out, even if his departure is still a bit confusing.
How does this work for additional years? Do these players sign a contract with the NBA team that gives them the option to call them up to the NBA (like MLB does with their minor leagues)?
Does Moss still have the benefits of student-athlete academic mentors? If so, they will help him tremendously (and legitimately) to finish his courses and graduate. This is one of the great perks for athletes.
You don't think that Ferentz saw where this was probably going? If he "settled," it wouldn't be "over," but just be getting started with demands that would be restrictive of his property rights and cost him much more money.
