I agree with Fry that our players, under Fran, are not strong enough to compete in the grind of a 20 game B1G season. But I also think this year's team is easily the "toughest" team Fran has had, which I believe allowed them to play above their lack of physicality.

Other than winning and getting the double bye, it couldn't be a better bracket for us. We're a combined 7-2 against all the teams on our side of the bracket. So I'm pretty happy with where we ended up.

I have no problem with players doing what CJF did. Coaches can't do anything or they'll be fined. The B1G front office doesn't seem concerned that their refs suck. The NCAA doesn't seem to want to do anything other than pay lip-service to freedom of movement. So yeah, if no one above you...

Bad teams, even with a great player, don’t finish Top 5 in this league this year. They may have had bad games...but who hasn’t. When you’re missing the guys we’ve missed this year, this is about as good as you can expect.

When 2/5ths of your starting 5 is out for year, then yeah, you’re going to hit a wall at end of year. Hopefully they find a 2nd wind.

Actually that’s not true. Fran never calls time on O for a last shot...he says he doesn’t want other team to set defense. Also, we don’t have a shot to win at the end if Fran doesn’t take early TOs.

You can go back even as recent as the late 80s and still find free flowing offense. Heck, in 88-89, Iowa avg’d over 90 points for the season. This whole defensive philosophy started in the NBA with guys like Pat Riley with the Knicks and Chuck Daly with the Pistons in the late 80s/early 90s...

Most likely 5. Only thing that would get us a 6 or 7 is if MSU and/or Maryland lose.

The downside to having so many team in the NCAAs is that there is inevitably going to be some matchups in the 2nd round, which sucks. Also, I agree with the earlier poster about under-seeding. We've beat the shit out of each other all year that you're going to get a lot of the teams in the 5-7...

I'll play pretty much any team except the two Indiana teams....there's just something about Purdue and Indiana in Indianapolis. No want!

Add Indiana to that list as well. I want no part of either of the "home" teams in the BTT....

Hopefully, if we're good/lucky enough to beat Illinois at their place that Wisconsin beats Indiana at Indiana. That would put Wisky as the #1 seed and us as the #4. I'd much rather play Wisky than MSU in the BTT if we manage to get past our first game.

Under Fran, we will always struggle against teams that clog the cutting lanes, play physical with our cutters, and run our shooters off the 3 point line. It's just the way it is and I don't see that changing. That's why we struggle with the likes of MSU, Purdue, and Wisky. But against others...

Just for clarification purposes, the loss we gave OSU tied for the largest loss by an Urban Meyer coached team and was the most points an Urban Meyer coached team had ever given up. But it wasn't the largest loss ever by OSU. That honor belongs to the 1994 PSU team that beat them 63-14. But...

KF has been quoted on numerous occasions as saying that they would certainly take a dual threat, but that Iowa's program isn't exactly conducive to attracting those types. I'd also say that when it comes to a dual threat, the staff would certainly prefer a throwing QB that happens to be a good...

I honestly don't know if we do or not. Everyone said we would be a better team had Cook stayed. I don't believe that. People said the same thing about Moss. i don't believe that either. Sometimes you can be a better team even if you lose a talented player, depending on how the others are...

I honestly wouldn't be opposed to that at this point. JBO at the point, CJF at the 2, Connor at the 3, Nunge at the 4 and Luka at the 5 is a formidable lineup next year and gives you 4.5 guys that are threats to hit the 3 (Connor is .5 of a threat :) )
