Success Regular Season Despite Lack of Championship

Even though the preseason polls had us at #5, I never really believed they could defend well enough to stay there. Well, the regular season is over, and here we are at #5. So I definitely consider this season a success and am glad this team proved me wrong. This team's final legacy is yet to...

I don't love the conference bracket

Yep at this point my concern is really just being rested and healthy for the NCAA Tournament. I find myself not really caring all that much about the BTT this year. As for the bracket - yeah I'm not crazy about it either, but I don't feel the other side of the bracket is a cakewalk, either...

    JW

This is such an "Iowa" thing to have happen. Can't say I'm surprised. But still holding out hope that it isn't as bad as it looked. Without JW, I don't feel too great about our chances of making a deep run even if we are a high seed. JW can carry this team at times, and we're going to need...

    Congrats to ISU

I don't know how you can survive 0-18. 0-18. Even bad teams can steal a few wins.

    JW

Sure hope it isn't too bad. Big 10 Tournament is one thing but really hope he can be ready to go for NCAA tournament. Luckily that's almost two weeks away. Fingers crossed.

Is the goal post moving again for NCAA tourney expectations?

For me it's UNLV, but that's also mostly because we haven't gotten back to that level in the 30+ years since. This year's season has the potential to end just like it did in 87, but I'm good with that. The NWST game pissed me off but I had a much easier time moving on from that one because I...

Is the goal post moving again for NCAA tourney expectations?

Seriously, I haven't thought much about this until now, but PCHawk is correct - it's gonna sting this year whenever the season ends, barring a national title. Not making it past the first weekend this year will be very disappointing. No two ways about it. Losing in later rounds will be...

How bout 2 seed w Baylor or Illini

I was wondering if anyone knows why we are always in Gonzaga's bracket in everyone's Bracketology? Is there something that dictates which teams go where?

    Who we rooting for?

Who are we rooting for in the OSU/ILL game? OSU I guess?

    Who we rooting for?

That's where I'm at. I think everyone outside of Gonzaga, Baylor and Michigan I want to see lose as much as possible (except for Iowa of course).

I don't know, but I'm not sure why a 1 seed would be a bad thing - I'd love to see it happen just to say we've done it. Let the chips fall where they will. At least on paper, if you're a 1 seed, that technically means you're the best team in your region. If you're a 2, you have another team...

Iowa Basketball Checks in at No. 5 in Latest AP Poll

Same here. I don't remember what I may or may not have posted before the season, but I was right there with you on that. I honestly felt that struggles on defense were going to limit this team to a roughly Top 15-20 ranking. I'm glad to have been wrong.

Iowa Basketball Checks in at No. 5 in Latest AP Poll

That OSU win was a really nice feather in our caps. Helps too when a lot of the Top 10 took L's this week. Splitting a pair of games between Top 5 opponents - no reason we should have really dropped much or at all regardless, IMO.

I've enjoyed this season, don't get me wrong, but it's hard not to think of where this team would be sitting if some of those games had not gotten away. I'm thinking mainly of the games against Minnesota, the first OSU game, and both Indiana games. This team could very easily be 22-3 right...

The "fade" includes March, too. The 2013-14 team lost 7 of their last 8. The 2015-16 team lost 7 of their last 10. The 2018-19 team lost 7 of their last 10. I won't mention the 2017-18 team because that whole season was garbage. No, it's not EVERY year, but there absolutely has been a...

It's refreshing to see Iowa be highly ranked going into the last month or so of the season and not see February/March be a complete f'ing disaster. 2013-14 and 2015-16 were maddening.
