Nope. I used Painter's 8th year as an example of a stupid reason to pull out an arbitrary number.

There is talent on this roster...it's just not a balance roster. And yes, Fran's flair for the hyperbole hurts him at times like this

Yeah, Iowa should can the guy that just finished back to back third place in the B1G reg season and then 5th last year after they lost Uthoff, Woody, Gesell and Sapp...makes a lot of sense.

It can be done, because it has been done. The problem is when this thinking is extended to IT SHOULD BE DONE. That ignores reality, and the fact there are 13 other programs in the Big Ten, and 6 that you are likely to never beat over the long haul, or be better than

I like that question. I would say that Barta, if he did it without cause, acted too hastily and I would not agree with the firing.

The problem I have with things like this, is there are a bunch of people that wanna be this or wanna be that...and then they get pissy when what they wanna doesn't happen...they throw fits, tantrums, etc. And frankly, that's all on you for living in a world that isn't based in reality.

I can't tell anyone what or how to feel. I also write to entertain myself, and that means not everyone will like it. These are my opinions. They aren't worth any more than yours, and I welcome respectful debate. IN MY OPINION, the Iowa job is middle of the road at best in the Big Ten, as...

Right now, I am not sure what to expect from them. That said, if they are not in the NCAA next year, Fran's seat has warmth to it...since I am not the AD, I do not control the thermostat, but that would definitely shake my confidence in the direction.

    Kirk Ferentz: Living Legend

In the Fry era, there were four teams in the Big Ten that had winning records over the span of those 20 years, who were in the league for that entire time: Michigan, Ohio State, Iowa and Wisconsin. The Badgers were two games over .500. That's it. Northwestern had the 5th worst winning...

    Kirk Ferentz: Living Legend

The term 'living legend' gets tossed around a lot. For me a 'living legend' must inspire people & leave near unattainable legacies. In my opinion, Kirk Ferentz has done these things & is a living legend. Oh, and he is a good football coach, too. Column...

Knock Off the Political Posts on This Board

As it relates to some political and or religious topics that arise in the podcast, Deace and I do not have a script. May surprise some of you but neither of us knows what's going to come out of our mouths until we say it. So I don't exactly know what he's going to say either in advance...

Going for 2 down by 9

I just don't understand people using this point. Yes, you are going to need a two point conversion at some point. BUT...if you go for two and miss, like Iowa did, with around a minute left, you now need to recover TWO onside kicks and get two scores to win. Means means, you lose. If you kick...

If I have come off as if I am excusing 66 yards, that is not my intent. I have just looked at this season as sort of a preseason developmental year for next year, since last season ended. By and large, it has gone according to expectations for me, with last week being a nice bonus that I never...

Because when you don't make the makeable place, it has a negative effect on what your offense does. It stops drives. Today there were at least 10 to 15 plays Iowa didn't get, that they would have gotten had they executed, and dropped passes. So yes it can be used at all times, because it's the...

In 2012 an offense of coordinator that had Decades of experience, won national championships, LED one of the worst Iowa offense of attacks in school history. 5 years later he did the same. Are we to expect that Brian Ferentz, who was considered for the New England Patriots offense of coordinator...
