MIchigan Set to Flip Iowa Kicker recruit

Keep in mind that most of our best kickers have been walk-ons. Several scholly kickers over the years never panned out. I don't recall the name off the top of my head, but we had one on a full ride that was here for five years, probably about 8-10 years ago, and never did anything of note.

    The reality of it

Go back and watch each one. His protection broke down every time. It's easy to criticize the QB, but if his eyes are looking downfield (as they should be), and he's hit blindly while in the act of throwing or climbing the pocket, that's exactly what's going to happen. It's not like he stood in...

    Attitude

We were greatly overmatched athletically at literally every position yesterday. That wasn't a surprise. What surprised and disappointed me is that OSU also "out-attituded" us. It would be easy for a team with athletically gifted players across the board to play with a certain nonchalance, to...

    The reality of it

I actually thought McNamara was one of the few bright spots yesterday. He really only had one poor throw that I can recall, when he was scrambling to his right in the first quarter and threw a terrible ball to an open receiver in a scrambling situation. Other than that, he was efficient and...

    Minnesota Game

Does anyone know how off-sides is defined with the on-side kick attempt? Is it any body part crossing the "plane" or is it when the body part touches beyond the line? That distinction would be important if trying to use some type of sensor such as a laser. As far as reviewable calls, I agree...

    CC really coming on

Mitchell is a bit of a defensive liability, but her benefit to the team offensively more than balances that out. She hustles hard enough on D, but her size hurts her at times. Boston is solid and is high character. I do wish she was and inch or two taller, but it is what it is. I agree about...

    CC really coming on

Indiana is the youngest team in the league and yet hung close with a very good veteran Connecticut squad. There's no glaring roster deficiency, but better backcourt depth and a stout defensive front court player with length would help. More than anything, experience and playing together will...

    State of passing game

Agree. Sometimes the defense just has the right scheme and play-call at the right time. Very hard to hold that against the line or backs. That kind of situation is just going to happen occasionally. My original concern had more to do with inability to sustain blocks from a physical and...

    Offensive coordinator talks offense

I'm really starting to like Lester. I stated in the other thread that I was encouraged and seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. I read this article this morning, and feeling even more positive about him. I like the way he views the game and how he analyzes performance. He doesn't...

    State of passing game

Is the line better than the last two seasons? Absolutely. The point is they should be better - meaning that health and experience by itself was destined to translate into better play (ideally). Improvement was bound to happen organically, regardless of the coach. Don't misunderstand, I'm not...

    State of passing game

We agree here. There have been times where the OL has opened up huge holes, especially crashing down and allowing the RBs to cut to the backside.

    State of passing game

You're welcome to have your perspective. As I stated, there have been gains in the run-blocking, though inconsistent. What I'm referencing are persistent technique issues, in terms of hand placement, pad level, etc. In particular, the guard positions have been overpowered way too often, or...

    State of passing game

As a team, I agree. I was referring specifically to the offensive skill players, who are still adjusting to a new system with a QB that hasn't had hardly any meaningful snaps in two years. That said, I'm not giving any kind of pass to the OL. There are no excuses for the players or Barnett this...

    State of passing game

It's a multi-factorial problem, and it's hard to see any kind of quick fix. When a QB doesn't play for basically two years, the rust is going to become most apparent when the play goes off-script. Some situations simply can't be replicated in practice. They can run play after play, work on...

    The problem with Trump

Wow. This thread has evolved into the "Hawkeye Fanbase Think Tank..." I'll throw in a little of my perspective on these issues. As far as capitalism versus communism/socialism, I would agree for the most part with many of the thoughts above. Human beings are greedy by nature. That greed - if...

    Time is Now for Iowa

I think your article reflects the angst that a lot of Iowa fans are feeling right now. It's not just this upcoming game, you could make the argument that the season itself is a "must win" for the program. In this new landscape, it's hard to say when or if we will have another team with this...

    Revoke Xavier and Cade's Scholarships

Completely agree. I especially was miffed about taking the delay of game penalty. That would make sense if they were at ISU's 40-yard line, but giving up 5 yards of field position to save literally one second on the clock is poor coaching. I felt that the 2-point conversion attempt was way too...

The health of the people in our country

That's an interesting take. I would argue that the issue is much broader than scientists on the right not participating because they are "anti-expertise" or "anti-establishment." For decades, academia has gradually cultivated a liberal culture that has become increasingly rigid and dogmatic. To...
