CBS: Doyel & Dodd want Penn State to pay

Where is the outrage for the people at the 2nd Mile Charity? They seem to be getting a pass in all this. I think we are jumping the gun on all of this a bit, as we still do not know what Paterno recommended. Did PSU screw this up- absolutely, but this is such a horrible situation I am sure they...

    Iowa's Projected Offensive Stats

I have done this for several seasons now, but this season was a bit more challenging. I compared Texas stats from 2001 -2010 to Iowa's stats from the same time period, looked at each opponents last two years defensively paying special attention to their performance (if available) against Iowa...

    Iowa's Projected Offensive Stats

I want to take a stab at Iowa's offensive stats again. Here are the two links from the previous seasons: Early Picks: Iowa’s 2010 Stats | Hawkeye Nation and Projection: 2011 Offensive Stats | Hawkeye Nation. I am projecting Iowa to score 401 points on offense (422 overall- combination of...

    Name your 2012/2013 National Champ

Iowa! but really USC. Too much talent, good schedule and will be strong on both sides of the ball.

Promising linebacking corps a big key for Iowa’s defense this season

Re: Promising linebacking corps a big key for Iowas defense this season Agree with this, Morris will put up very good combine numbers. He was a true sophomore playing behind a subpar dline last season. He will be fine.

Promising linebacking corps a big key for Iowa’s defense this season

Re: Promising linebacking corps a big key for Iowas defense this season IMO we have 2 tiers of linebackers- the starters with Alston pushing to join that group and the second tier of undersized and inexperienced players that include Collins, Getz, Poggi, Perry, Fisher. A third tier...

Here are some Playoff Questions that Come to Mind

I am 99% sure Title IX has nothing to do with this discussion, on my phone so I can't post everything relevant from here, but it only forces opportuniy, has nothing to do with how scholarships are funded. I looked at the wiki and can't post the link.

    Last 6 Years Mock Playoff

I don't think you understand how Title IX works. Or maybe I don't, but those 85 scholarships already exist and are paid for by the schools. Title IX really has no bearing on the discussion imo. The NCAA will be negotiating the TV deal from my understanding. Not the conferences. I aknowledge...

    Last 6 Years Mock Playoff

Title IX has nothing to do with this. I don't understand your implication. The new TV money isn't giving schools more mens sports, it can fully fund existing scholarships. I know that won't happen as basically the playoff was negotiated by 4 conferences and there is no way they will evenly...

    Last 6 Years Mock Playoff

I understand why Jon thinks FBS programs will drop, but outlined why I disagree in the other play off thread. The only way that happens is if they limit payout to the conferences that appear in the playoff or they expand the play off to 8 teams and roll back regular season games to 11 games...

Here are some Playoff Questions that Come to Mind

I see some of you guys denigrating the B1G's on-field performance and then making arguments about how money is the number one objective of the new college football order. The B1G schools still have (and will continue) to have the largest alumni bases and tv viewers. The B1G will be...

We're Not Really Beating Many Out

This is true, I left Colfax for 12 years but was pulled back in.

5 to 7 Rides left, positions targeted?

I count 68 players with eligibilty left for next season (including incoming freshman) so that would leave 17 open to me. Account for some attrition (NFL, transfers, injuries etc.) would make 20 about the right number. A list of Seniors I know have scholarships: QB JVB, Wienke FB Gimm WR Davis...

5 to 7 Rides left, positions targeted?

The number in paranthesis is players already accounting for 'ships at each spot. So next season we have Rudock, Sokol, and Beathard who account for the (3). The (5) at tailback would be Johnson, Bullock, Canzeri, Garmon and Hill. Etc. Also forgot about Nate Meier- don't know where he will land...

Forgot 2 commits- additional safety and linebacker.

5 to 7 Rides left, positions targeted?

After Sunday's haul Iowa stands at 15 known commits. This class should have 20 to 22 rides avaiable. By my math Iowa heads into next season with 67 rides spoken for. Here is a rough breakdown of the roster with commits and existing rides at each position, feel free to correct my numbers. QB 1...

CBS mailbag - how will the Hawks do?

I hate to be a broken record, but Northern Illinois is going to really suck this year. They lost a NFL caliber QB, top rusher, key receivers, 4 multi year starting lineman and gave up over 30 ppg in the MAC! Iowa will not lose a defacto home game to a team that has even more glaring losses than...

lebron is the greatest athlete ever

I think this sums up my thoughts extremely well. Imagine how dominant he could be as a NFL DE or TE. Bo Jackson was a beast as well. Still think MJ was the greatest basketball player ever and Lebron won't be able to surpass him. Good job by duff differntiating between best athlete and...

Daily Iowan Hating on KF and Iowa FB

That was just awful. Is that girl a regular contributor to the DI? I would hope not. Not only was it factually faulty, the writing was just ******. Also the comments were priceless.

    Question About Recruiting

Whoever made the point about Ferentz and company's evaluation is dead on. Look at how often Iowa's offer is followed by other schools. Other coaching staffs know Iowa evaluates recruits very well and that can often burn Iowa when they give a relative unknown an early offer.
