Predictions - Indiana

I believe the key for Iowa is to gamble on defense. Iowa has to abandon the bend don't break for this game. It needs to blitz every down. You can't allow the Indiana QB time to throw. Offensively Iowa just needs to keep improving the passing game. Throwing on first down more often is imperative. I look at Iowa's schedule and Indiana's. Iowa Lost by 3 to a ranked team on the road with two games under its belt to Iowa's one. Indiana's big win was the ranked Illinois blow out at home. I think it will be a close game and turnovers and special teams will come into play.

Cignetti has done an amazing job in such a short time at IU, almost unprecedented if you think about it.

It wasn't like he was stepping into a floundering blue-blood program to awaken a sleeping giant. He has turned Indiana into a power with players that weren't heavily recruited coming out of HS and have barely played together. He has proven that "developing" doesn't need to take 2-3 seasons, and turning a group of players unfamiliar with each other into a well-oiled machine doesn't need to take weeks to months.

Think about it for a second, as Iowa fans, we have been accustomed to being patient while players slowly develop and acclimate, and have always given the staff a pass knowing that it "takes time" for everything to come together. It really opens the eyes when you see a staff come in and show that all of that it all can be done in a matter of a couple of months.

The question is, how long will he be around. I could see an NFL franchise jumping on him within a season or two.

Our only chance in this game is to dominate the line of scrimmage, keeping our offense on the field and forcing IU's offense to play off-script. Playing in Kinnick with the emotions and rowdy crowd will help, but can the players and fans sustain that intensity for 60 minutes? Not going to be easy.

Anyone out of state listen to Dolph and Pat? Easy way to do it?

I’m afraid Cignetti finds a couple mismatches he likes early, including the linebackers in coverage and also Lee, and Mendoza relentlessly attacks. I like the Hawks DL, but this is a game they need a Clayborn and an AJ bringing elite heat. Not sure we have that.

Select KILJ Mt Pleasant as a radio station. (there are two streams - one for Hawk games)

Im sure there are other options.

Iowa 20
Indiana 34

I don't think Indiana boat races Iowa like they did to Illinois, but it's not going to be a whole lot better. Indiana doesn't try to consistently burn you over the top in the passing game, like Rutgers. Indiana's RPO offense is designed to both find and create soft spots in the defense. Their pass timing is impeccable. Iowa's corners have been playing quite a bit of man coverage this year. In order for man coverage to work, Iowa will have to generate a pass rush and shrink the passing window. Iowa's zone coverage in the middle and over the top hasn't been very good this year. Indiana will pick it apart.

I think Iowa can slow Indiana's running game and maybe generate a pass rush for a time. Indiana will eventually counter Iowa's pass rush and pick apart the pass protection.

Gronowski will run less than half the yards he did last week. I doubt Iowa's rushing attack is potent enough to keep the offense on schedule. Gronowski will have to go over the top a few times, which he might have a little luck with. He won't consistently get enough time though and will have to either hit the outlet guy, or dump the ball into the sideline. We'll see how that goes.

I don't see Indiana giving Wetjen any opportunities. I see both teams having at least one turnover.

I don't think Indiana scores 34
