2025 College Football Survival Pool

10 YEARS STRONG!! Welcome Back!

-----

If it's your first time playing, or you need a refresher, here are the basic rules:

- Pick a team you think will win each week.
- - - - Week 1 does not include Week 0 this year (obviously) as it has in the past. So, some teams have already lost and are not available. Week 1 is Thursday, August 28 through Monday, September 1.

- You can only pick a team that is currently undefeated.

You can only pick an FBS team that is playing an FBS team. (don't bank on other players calling you out to help. Google it if you're not sure about a team).

- You can only pick a team once per season!

- If the team you pick wins, you survive to the next week.

- Picks must be made before the kickoff of the game you pick (based ONLY on time stamp of your post) or will be a DQ. They must be made public on this board, NOT a message to me.

- If necessary, we will pick up-to and including "Bowl Week" to determine a winner.

On Iowa, Go Hawks!
Week 2 Southern California

If I had to pick between Iowa vrs Iowa State today I would have chosen Iowa State, and that's the truth. You all know I have made like almost forty straight correct picks on the 2025 College Football Survival Pool, and I didn't want to jinx the HAWKS by picking Iowa State.

Just as Fran had gotten stale the football programs seems to be on auto pilot wilh anticipated wins around 8 or 9 per year. That is why I would like to see the playoffs go to 32 to al least give Iowa at least a chance to be in the playoffs. Traditionally Iowa has improved as the season has gone on, meaning Iowa is at it's best and strongest toward end of season with two or three losses going into the bowl season. A two or three loss Big Ten team has a shot at being in a 32 team playoff while playing it's best football of the year.

Status quo with Kirk will never get you into the playoffs as per amount of teams currently chosen. I just shook my head with the news of adding the West Coast teams as I knew it would end up hurting Iowa's chances in the playoffs.

The way things stand Iowa has very, very, little chance of ever making the playoffs under Kirk's regime. He's been a better than average Big Ten coach, but he is no longer able to compete at the highest levels or at a level that will ever get him into the playoffs, UNLESS they expand to 32 teams.

It's a shame because the Hawks could do some major damage in the playoffs with their improved end of season abilities. They would now have to have TWO MAJOR upsets to have any chance.
