I honestly think none of these coaches in the mix for blue blood jobs ever consider local politics, the school system or state taxes when considering a position. They might consider the disturbance caused for their kids by moving schools, but if you have money there are always good schools...

If he was, I have a pretty hard time seeing Kirk being nudged into retirement for Pat Fitzgerald. That makes no sense to me whatsoever. Look at Kirk's Big Ten records - he's been ringing up 6 and 7 win seasons for several years now. The "down" years are 5 wins. In contrast, Fitz's last 4 years...

"At least for the next couple of years" will be Kirk's line to every recruit until the day he announces his retirement. There really isn't any other answer he can give.

I know what you are saying, but unless Kirk decides he wants to do a farewell tour for a year, at some point he'll be recruiting kids despite knowing he won't be around that season. I believe anyone who signs is still free to choose another school.

If, if, Kirk was going to step down, and the information is being kept as airtight as Fry is reporting, wouldn't Kirk wait until after signing day? Let the team and specifically the seniors bask in the completion of a season for several days, get the early signing day wrapped up...so maybe...

I haven't watched Michigan State this year, so it's hard for me to weigh in on the match-up too much. But I haven't seen many teams play with the togetherness and defensive intensity in November that the Hawks have shown. Win or lose, I think the Hawks might turn a few heads tonight.
