If he was, I have a pretty hard time seeing Kirk being nudged into retirement for Pat Fitzgerald. That makes no sense to me whatsoever. Look at Kirk's Big Ten records - he's been ringing up 6 and 7 win seasons for several years now. The "down" years are 5 wins. In contrast, Fitz's last 4 years...

I know what you are saying, but unless Kirk decides he wants to do a farewell tour for a year, at some point he'll be recruiting kids despite knowing he won't be around that season. I believe anyone who signs is still free to choose another school.

I haven't watched Michigan State this year, so it's hard for me to weigh in on the match-up too much. But I haven't seen many teams play with the togetherness and defensive intensity in November that the Hawks have shown. Win or lose, I think the Hawks might turn a few heads tonight.

Hawks have had really good teams get smoked in East Lansing, so even a bad loss tonight isn't the end of the world. That said, I think the Hawks will give them a good fight. I'm curious as to how well Stirtz can control the game while being manhandled for 40 minutes.
