Prediction Reshuffle: Do You Feel Differently about 2013?

If we lose to Minny, a losing record this year is a possiblity. I doubt many of you predicted we would lose to ISU, Indiana, Purdue and CMU last year. Had we won those four games, we would have been 8-4 going into our bowl game. Jon's prediction that we will beat Wisky this year is a real long...

    Iowa football 2014

I never thought I would say this...but the game vs. Maryland is the one I am most looking forward to. Terps have been playing good ball this year. Kirk was always good at keeping the boys focused for road trips out east in his first few years...we just didn't have many of them. mostly happy valley.

    Tie-breakers.

Remember when most of us felt Colt McCoy was gipped as a junior, when Texas beat Oklahoma but was robbed of a conference title game, because they lost on a fluke last second play to Tech, and OU went to the title game? Let me give you a Big-10 scenario for next fall. Iowa & Nebraska both...

    tie-breakers critical in November.

It will be fun playing for the spot in our league championship game. Non-conference losses & losses to teams in the other division are NOT as important as games vs. division foes. The SEC has had this spectacle for a decade now. Tie-breakers will be all we're talking about in November! It is...

    NCAA Seeds.

Do you folks remember when the A.P. poll (before there even was a USA/Coaches poll) only ranked 20 teams in fb/bb instead of 25? How long has that been? 20 years? or less? Anyway, in basketball (based on what's important to fans in this age) it might make more sense to rank a top-24 or a...

    Next year's starters.

Earlier this week i charted a two-deep for the 2011 team. O-line: Reiff, Gettis, Zusevics, Gettis, Ferentz. Looks very good. D-line: Daniel, Daniels, Binns. Tough. Recievers: McNutt, Davis, Herman & Fedorowiz. Very formidable. Backfield: Vandenburg, Rogers & Coker. Lots of promise. Linebackers...

Coker sets school record for rushing yards in a single game

The only record for rushing yards that Coker set in last night's game was for the most in a bowl game. I believe this is Iowa's 26th bowl game. Bob Jeter set the old record in bowl #2, the '59 Rose Bowl, when he ran for 188 yards. So this record has been a long time coming. Congratulations...

Micah Hyde Interception Return for TD is.....

Why do you think that Tyler Sash lateraled the ball to him on that INT vs. Mich. State? Tyler is probably the most clear-headed guy on the defense and he knew who had the chance to take that ball back the farthest. It's in the bloodline. His brother was a senior wolverine and was voted all...

    Question Re: Illegal Touching Penalty

Egnew sure ran behind the other three players to the inside...but I'm not sure we could see all four recievers at the start of the video clip the network chose to show. I believe he may have lined up behind the three guys we could see on the screen at the time, but was just out of our view to...

    Disparity between coaches/writers All-Big-10.

meant to say Minnesota had no all-conference picks, not Wisconsin. My bad.

    Disparity between coaches/writers All-Big-10.

The Iowa Hawkeyes finished the 2010 season in a 3-way tie (with Illinois and Penn State) for 4th place in the Big-10 conference with a 4-4 record. Michigan and Northwestern finished tied for 7th place with losing 3-5 records. (OSU, MSU & Wisky shared the title) Yet the conference coaches...

    Iowa/Neb insight is possible

On the money! If Nebraska loses to Oklahoma, Neb losses out on the Cotton, and probably the Alamo. I personally believe Nebraska beats Oklahoma. But, I also feel that Gator takes the Nittany Lions and Outback picks Iowa over Michigan. So, if Oklahoma beats Nebraska, it's Michigan vs. Neb in...

11-30 Ear to the Ground Bowl Update

The money-grubing bowls see Division I college football fans as cash cows. They are right. Western Michigan losses $400,000 and Ohio State eats $1.2 million on tickets alone at the Texas and Fiesta Bowls in 2009? Is America in a recssion economy or not? Sounds like these bowl game capitalistas...
