Fever Make Caitlin Clark No. 1 Pick

OK, since there was absolutely nothing remotely interesting about CC getting picked #1, a question: which aspect of her game will see the biggest drop-off in the WNBA, her scoring average or assist average? Or will there BE drop-offs?

Kate Martin Drafted By Las Vegas

    Surprised. Hope she sticks.

    Tony Perkins to Mizzou

Maybe the Mizzou coach has convinced him the Tigers are gonna be a juggernaut beginning next November, and he's going to be the catalyst who becomes as popular as Caitlan Clark and he'll get tons of commercial endorsements and appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated. (OK, dated myself with...

    PMac Commits to Butler

I think the key phrase here is "single other occasion where this has happened". It's also not likely you could find a situation where: * A coach's son is treated and recovers from thyroid cancer at age 13; * He goes on to become a 4-star rated player & commits to play for his father; *...

    Damn.

    Interesting News at QB

I always try to put myself in the shoes of my opponents and see things from their perspective: * There's not a single WR on Iowa's roster which creates a challenge for my defense. * I love facing pro-style QBs who can't run; and love facing offenses which include no running plays for...

    Interesting News at QB

I had to chuckle watching video of today's practice. QBs were throwing simple 15-20 yd down-and-out passes to WRs, with no defenders. Completed 1 of their first 7. Passes high, passes low, WRs dropping balls. Un Fucking Believable. Looked like the first day of a h.s. practice. Reminded me of...

    Jan Jensen

The problem with Hannah playing the 4 is that she can't shoot worth a damn outside 3 ft of the basket. If you match her up with O'Grady at the 5, granted, Hannah is more likely to arguably get more rebounds and 'put back' offensive rebounds off other Hawkeyes' shots because the opponent's 5...

Innocent question regarding the future of Women’s Basketball

Really appreciate your two posts. It's not as simple as folks on both sides of this issue make it out, and you clarify why. Just excellent posts.

    HAILEY VAN LITH

Yeah, my bad. I watched Van Lith on the tube quite a bit this year, and every game (except 1) I came away very unimpressed. She's not quick enough to get into the lane like Clark, she's not as good of a 3 pt shooter as McCabe. Agreed, not a good fit for Iowa's style.

    HAILEY VAN LITH

If Van Lith ever had vision of getting drafted into the WNBA, those hopes went out the window for any scout watching her try to guard Clark Monday night. Clark literally needed just one big step to get by her...EVERY time. You may say "Well, Clark is unguardable". Yes and no. There were...

    Iowa Overwhelms Colorado, LSU Next

Agree with most of this post. Have to put Gabby on Johnson to try to slow her down. Unfortunately, CClark having to guard Van Lith will mean her having to actually guard someone out at the 3pt line rather than sag off, and she's going to have to work harder than usual on the defensive end. It...

    #1 Iowa - #5 Colorado Sweet 16 Game Thread

Given CC's slump from treyland the last several games -- and make no mistake, her 3pt shooting % has been under 30% lately -- if I'm LSU I'd back off and err on the side of giving her more room to shoot 3s, in order to prevent her ability to get to the rim for easy baskets and risk getting my...

    Iowa Overwhelms Colorado, LSU Next

Gotta admit I was a big Bruin fan yesterday. I honestly think the Hawks could handle UCLA no problem, but dang, LSU is just a bad matchup. Van Lith is not a problem, but their Guard #4 Johnson yesterday was the best player on the floor. Add in their height and relentless rebounding efforts...

    Total BS

She HAS been very fortunate to stay relatively injury-free for 4 years. Her first couple years defenses didn't really focus on being physical with her, and even last year I was pretty surprised at how little she got beat up when she drove the lane. Finally, at the end of last year a few teams...
