Ingram needs to play more minutes.

Clemmons
Gesell
Marble
White
Woodbury

Those are your 5. Ingram can take Clemmons or Gesell's minutes off the bench. Oglesby can take Marble's minutes off the bench and Basabe can get White or Woodbury or mix lineups between those 8. May and Mccabe can ride the bench, they provide nothing. Go with 8, just because Fran is playing 10 guys doesnt mean he has the depth to do it.

The hate for McCabe is ridiculous. I agree with a lot of the other things you said though. Only tweak I might make is starting Oglesby and still have Clemmons come off the bench. That way you have people playing their "true" positions.

Gesell- Obvious PG
Oblesby- Straight up shooter, fits well at the 2
Marble- Slashing 3
White- Match up nightmare most nights at the 4
Woodbury- Only position for him obviously

Awesome. So we have 1 guy on the court that can break down his man and create his own shot? I like the move back to the 4 for White, but we need some quickness in the backcourt. Gesell and Oglesby would get absolutely EATEN ALIVE by any decent team. They would struggle at times to get the ball across mid-court if sufficient pressure were applied.

May has always been a solid three point shooter. Hes not a volume guy, and isn't one who looks for his shot a lot, but hes aleays shot a solid percentage.

Umm White would be able to get his own shot at the 4, as we saw last night. Marble would also be able to help get the ball up the floor. What good is it if you play guys that can get their own shot but they are guys that cant shoot worth a damn?

And as has been pretty obvious so far this season, this team is much tougher on defense playing a zone. Gesell and Oglesby can be sufficient playing a zone.

I agree 100%, I also agree with Marble getting the ball up the floor. This team is limited athletically, but Iowa has length. Iowa's best D is sitting in an active zone, getting their hands active and taking up a ton of space. Iowa gets carved up at the rim when they go man. Pack the zone in and use your length to contest jump shots.

I like the move back to 4 for White. Don't need to have great shooters at the 1 or 2 if those guys are able to penetrate and dish (something we've SORELY missed for God knows how long now). Besides, Clemmons is obviously not a bad shooter.

Well said and you are exactly right.

If we arent going to have great shooters at the 1 and 2 where exactly are we going to have our shooters? Its too early to tell on Clemmons shooting, 99.9% have only seen him play 7 games.

Marble was 9-15 from the field last night for 18 points, White and Marble combined for 39 points, Marble even had 7 assists and 7 rebounds last night all from the 2 guard spot.
this is a young team still relying on 3 Freshmen to be the leaders of this team, all three at the biggest area of need, the last 2 losses Gesell and Clemmons went up against Seniors, one a 5th year senior, its a wee bit early to expect them to go straight up against any senior. this lineup is jhust fine. unless people are saying they know more than Fran

Wait, just a week ago people were saying Ingram should have been redshirted and it was a dumb move to burn his shirt for the playing time he is going to get. Which one is it?

Depends on who you ask. We won't know who was right until much later in the season. I personally think he needs more minutes. It sure doesn't seem like he hurts us when he's out there.

I think it's more important to attack the basket at this point. Even our "shooters" are not shooting well right now (Oges ok the last couple). Put it this way.....who would you rather guard as a defender? Right now Oges and Gesell are not exactly difficult to defend. Neither is going to take you off the dribble. O just floats the perimeter, hoping to run through some screens. Gesell has shown he can occasionally penetrate, but not consistently. I would rather have someone out there creating shots for not only for themselves, but others as well. On top of that, both are sub-par defenders compared to Clemmons and Ingram. This offense, and defense, lacks playmakers. When Marble is off this team struggles greatly on offense. Just my thoughts. Nice to be discussing Iowa bball again though. Plenty of room for improvement.

So ehh, you guys complain minutes are spread out too much and now you want to spread them out more?

Nope just redistributed.

May and McCabe need to play less.

McCabe is not really a problem but White being at the 3 is a problem so unfortunately for him White is going to need to take those minutes.
