Agree. I prefer White at the 4 as I think he creates more problems there than at the 3. At the 3 White just does not have the lateral quickness to stay in front of solid 3's which Iowa faces night in and night out in the Big 10. I think White's strength is working the baseline and cutting into the paint for put backs. White plays pretty strong offensively around the rim as he went up strong and finished with dunks in traffic often last year. He also hustled well and beat many power forwards down the floor for easy lay ups in transition last year. I said last year his lateral quickness was not up to par to play the wing.

This could be an interesting rotation to have on the floor. The only spot where you are undersized in at the SG spot where Mike G would be playing. I think Mike G is the best shooter on the team. I would actually like to see him play a bit more selfish and maybe moving him off the PG spot would force him to shoot the ball more which is what I would like to see.

Even with a 2 point game, White's numbers are up across the board.

I agree, but the thing is, he starts there...situations are one thing, but he starts there. Now, if you look at a matchup, like when Minnesota was playing Mbakwe at the 3, then yeah, it makes sense to put Aaron there.

It is just the fact that he starts there is what bothers me, in today's day and age of college basketball if 1 - 3 cannot handle the ball somewhat equally, with all the pressure and the zone defenses teams have to be able to get to the rim from the wing, Aaron is a great ball handler at the PF position, but just okay at the SF position.

That's my point as well. It leaves us open to having a bad start to a game when we don't put the line-up out there that is going to give us mismatches in our favor against most teams.

Exactly, this season, I have been hoping to see Iowa force other teams to matchup to them...it hasn't happened, in part, with Woodbury fouling early and not being in great shape, or so it appears. He demands other teams to recognize him and when he is off the floor Iowa looks dysfunctional.

Iowa has the depth and size to make most of the teams they play this season matchup to them and not the other way around, I would just like to see that happen. The ability to play 10 players gives Iowa the potential to go very defensive and then a lineup that is offensive minded. It is so early and the team is not totally comfortable yet, it happens when you start two freshman and Marble looks like he is in a funk.

In the end, Woodbury being on the floor 20+ minutes is what will matter the most for Iowa and have the greatest impact.

Have teams adjusted and went to zone and made Iowa look bad on offense after those starts? WSU was just the first team with enough talent for it to be extremely effective. The starting lineup is not one that matches up well against quicker teams.

I ageee, an effective Woody opens up this offense. I don't know if it will happen this year, but when Woody can avg 8-10 pts a game and defenses have to sag on him, it will open thing up that much more for Marble, White, and Gesell.

Needs to happen. Playing him at the 3 leaves us exposed on the wing defensively and really slows our ability to dribble drive on O.

Ideally, White would be playing the 4. Right now, starting him at the 3 best utilizes our personnel. Some games, it will be very effective. Others, substitutions will happen to adjust the matchups. Fran seems to use the non-con as a chalkboard on which to figure out the best way to use his players so these substitution will probably happen quicker as the fall goes on. If it makes you feel better, I think he is recruiting wing players with the weaknesses you see in mind. Until then, his best wing sub is May. Need I say more.

White needs to be at the 4. Dribbling around the perimeter, reversing the basketball and him trying to take people off the dribble is not helping Iowa. He needs to be around the basket rebounding, getting put backs and using his offensive skills 5-10 feet from the basket not 20 feet. Once a shot goes up, Iowa has absolutely nothing inside to grab that board.

If his sister was on the other line how do you know "she" was about to get the happy ending. If you meant that "you" were going to a happy ending you need to post "I" was about to get a happy ending, plus I am assuming that it wasn't from his sister because she wasn't with you since she was "on the other line".
