in 14 minutes Gabe had 8 points on 4-4 from the FT line and 2 baskets with 6 rebounds not shabby if he playes like this all season Woody and Gabe will make a very dangerous combination
Gesell shows no fear, outside shooting, Ft shooting, and driving to the hoop he is clearly a upgrade over Cartwright, and Clemmons is a very solidly buit player no wonder FB teans were recruiting him as a DB.
this might be why people overlooked him as I feel many thought he would play FB and not BB
Meyer could use a RS year to get stronger

this team is solid from top to bottum and is 10 deep with very good talent at all 10 positions..
looking at it with Uthoff at 6'8 sitting out because of tranferring, 6'5 Jok will be coming in and hopefully 6'10 Meyer RS that will be a solid trio to add to a team that loses just May at 6'5..
May looks like the May that was selected to the All BT Freshman team as a freshmen

Yeah, I'm sure he will as Quincy will be one of the toughest teams we play all year. Will you just go back to another board already?
 


The best thing I can say about Olaseni is that he looked completely comfortable out there. He is going to be a very solid contributor, something that seemed crazy a year ago.
 


No way Gabe does this last year. Even though it is only Quincy what else are we going to base someones progression or skills?

Quit hating on optimism, with the football team tanking, basketball optimism is all we have...

Also a bunch of you were begging for Herby's return now that he is back quit trying to goat him into a fight it is petty and bordeline bullying.

Herby a word of advice. I hope you have learned from your mistakes and are able to take criticism with a thicker skin.

Hating on Herby. Herby earned it. And Gabe did exactly this last year this time.

At least he has learned to bite his tongue rather than constantly go on the attack. He will last a lot longer this way.
 


Every time he got in last year he was in a big hurry to go nowhere. Like another poster said, him being comfortable on the floor and playing in a good rhythm is the first thing he needs to do to get himself under control. Once that happens, then you look for production.

The main thing is that we're gonna love Gabe whether if he has double doubles or not.

I noticed this about May as well. Very active, but I am going to hold off saying he is back. I thought about the last two seasons and I remember him playing well early on and dissaperaing as Iowa got into the thick of it. I hope he has a stealler year!

I think you misunderstand WHY a bunch of people were begging for his return.
 


Gabe in his 1st game went 1-2 and 6-8 for 8 points and 4 rebounds in 9 minutes of play, did not play again until the 3rd game where he played 12 minutes his highest minute total of the season scoring 0 points and had 5 rebounds, on the season he avg 5 minutes per game in 18 games, 1.4 ppg, 1.2 rpg, .4 bpg and .2 spg..
not sure how the 40 minutes prorating works but I think it works out pretty good. all i expect is for Gabe and Woody combined get 12 ppg and 10 rebounds,
and Gabe is a much better FT shooter, and by being a center he will get his chance at shooting FT'S lets face getting 12 points and 12 rebounds in 25 minutes of play,
8 points 6 rebounds 4-4 ft's from Gabe in 14 minutes
Woody 4 points 6 rebounds in 11 minutes give a good indication of ability I don't care who the competition is, also this was just Iowa's 1st scrimmage where Quincy has already played and Quincy did have 2 6'10" players on their team so its not like they went up against 6'7 centers. they also had 46 rebounds for the game and forced 31 T/O, how's that for improved defense from a team starting 2 freshmen
