Exactly. I totally agree with you. After 55 minutes of that game you had to realize the defense was tired, and a 4th and 2 feet call was probably higher percentage than punt and stop and get the ball back. I thought punting there was not trying to win it there.
Even if they stuff us we have two timeouts, almost 5 minutes and if we can hold them to a field goal try we can win it with a TD.
Ferentz has peaked. After 14 seasons, it is clearly over for him. But does he know it? Self-awareness is a very tough trait to maintain, especially when surrounded by sycophants (local media, coaching staff and AD).
Even if KF stays, what superstars does Iowa have ready to break out? Sadly, I don't see any. Some good players but no one really stands out. If anything, the skill positions will get even greener and less skilled.
Realistically, Iowa is two seasons away from theoretically being competitive again. That will be 4 years of 'rebuilding'. And for what? More of the same outdated, dull, uninspired Ferentz style football. No thanks!
