Wisconsin set all sorts of records last year and could only muster 26 on UNI at home. What gives you any confidence that we can do better?

I say we lose to UNI and squeak by CMU something like 17-13.

They key words are "last year". They aren't as good this year.

They have a couple of teams that they should be able to score on easily. I think they win three of their first four due to strength of schedule. I can see them trying to put it on the next two teams.

I see nothing wrong with KF pressing to put up pts. the next few games. Our red zone offense has been anemic the last two weeks and I would not call off the dogs if it comes down to ending a drive in with a redzone TD or a redzone fieldgoal, there isn't a doubt in my mind that he tries to find the endzone regardless of what the score is.

Going one time zone to the east is not a big deal. And if you're seriously suggesting that Iowa got curb-stomped in Miami because of the plane ride, then there's no point debating anything remotely resembling football with you.

They lost because USC was arguably the best team in the nation at that point, and far better than Iowa. And if the jet lag was that severe for Iowa, I can't imagine how badly USC would have beaten the Hawks if the game had been played in the Rose Bowl. You know, since the lowly 38 points were the result of jet lag from flying from L.A. to Miami.

Or maybe because you're some mid-level reporter that you think you know more than everyone....wouldn't surprise me as that's typical of most every reporter. In any case, you have your opinion and I have mine. Come back and see me when this offense scores more than 26 against UNI.

Not directed toward you SpiderRico, but reading some of these posts I honestly wonder if people are wanting the Hawks to fail for the sole purpose of being able to say "I told you so" or "was right". I think I miss the delusional fanbase that was overly optimistic thinking every year was going to be a year we were a contender for a BCS game, rather than what the fan base has become.

When I watch Iowa play I find that they are stuck in the game within the game - that is to say - getting the 1st down. They get so few and when they get them it's often on 3rd down - which isn't that much. Just just just get that 1st down ! Grunt groan strain....augh!

Some offenses just move down the field and score.

I keep saying "Fail again" because you continue to post weak material. It's a message board. Get used to it.

Iowa may or may not win, and they may or may not score more than 26 points. But just because Wisconsin failed to do so doesn't make UNI some unbeatable force. The Badgers have made it pretty clear that they aren't anything special, either.

Agree.....I yearn for the Hayden day's when the Hawks would be up by 30 pts at halftime against Non-Conf foes. This allowed Coach Fry to give his 2nd/3rd string valuable playing time so that they didn't come into the next year without any real time playing experience. (Especially at the QB & RB positions)

Unfortunately I don't think this has even been possible for Coach Ferentz during the past couple years as there simply is not enough talent/skill for his teams to blow out the Non-Conference foes.
The good news is that the Offense can't get much worse.......the bad news is that it most likely will not get much better this year based on lack of experience/talent. Hopefully the Hawks can still pull out 6 wins.

Iowa scored 7 points in the second half against Michigan State...hardly Kirk attempting to "pile it on".

Iowa also wasn't throwing the ball all over the place against Minnesota attempting to "pile it on".

Kirk will never intentionally try to run up the score. He just doesn't do that.

Iowa's recruiting classes have been better for the past few years. Unfortunately, we're still reaping the fruit of the 2008-9 classes, which weren't so hot.

The team is really, really young. This year will be frustrating, but things will improve.

I'm impressed with the fact that college football isn't static. I like it that way. Wisconsin fans think they're guaranteed wins, and are shocked when it doesn't happen. They don't have Wilson anymore, and their recruiting classes from 2010-12 aren't as good as Iowa's classes. Things are going to change in a positive way.

ISU absolutely sucked a couple of years ago. They had a young team. They're experienced this year.

I think Wisconsin may be on the verge of a "down swing." Even though they have been very good the last few years, they are still not, in my view, elite. They, like Iowa, will probably continue to cycle through some good and not-so-good times. I have to live in Wisconsin and listen to the Badger BS, so excuse my bias.

I don't really care that much about Wisconsin football, but I feel sorry for 'activebadger'. Imagine what he will be like when the basketball program bombs this year.
