Interesting PTL Season Stats

Brendan put together all the stats...some things that jumped out at me

Marble shot 27.7% from three and 61% from line. The three point shooting is something he has said he wants to improve on, but I think Iowa wants him to attack the rim more. That is a good idea, but if you are going to attack the rim, need to shoot better from the stripe.

Basabe shot 75% from the line and pretty much all those who went to all the games said his demeanor was different this year than last, in a good way.

Zach McCabe was 17-30 from three point range, for 56.6%. He was 22-49 last year for Iowa.

Josh Oglesbly was 17-37 from three, 45.9%

Mike Gesell averaged over 8 assists per game and more than 21 points per game. 39% from three and 88% from line.

Woodbury was 4-14 from the line. That's not a good percentage, but you'd also like to see a center get to the line more as it's representative of aggressive play. Basabe went to the line 52 times and Aaron White more than 70, by comparison.

Gabe Olaseni averaged 16.5 points per game and 6.5 boards per game. Not bad at all.

Jarrod Uthoff averaged a double-double (14&10), the only 'current' Hawkeye do do that this year

I do disagree with Brendan in that I don't see Woodbury getting 20-25 minutes on the season. That's as much to do with how good I feel Basabe, White and McCabe will be, mixing in the improved Olaseni.

Adam needs to shoot at least 500 free throws a day from now on, wouldn't hurt Devyn also.....

Zach and Josh shooting that well from the three is very good news.....

Olaseni is the main surprise for me. Would be good to see him continue his improvement pre-conference, getting prepared for the Big Ten.....

:)

marble is a scorer. he needs to shoot 30% from the arc just to keep guys honest. i think he does that. i.think you can add 5% to his ptl shooting percentage stats as good shot selection isnt really coached in that league.

Marble shot over 72% from the line last year. I will be surprised and disappointed if he doesn't at least equal that and preferably improve on it.

I suspect Woodbury won't see a lot of minutes late in a close game.

Dev needs to hit those shots. HE has to be in the mid-70% range on Ft & hit a 3 pt % closer to his last game of 2011-2012 season. Ok, not that high, but in the mid-30% range would be good!

Zach & Josh need to hit like that all year. Same with May. He has done it before...

Gabe with some coaching & added strength is going to be a good one. He is only in his 5th year of basketball. He has a long way to go yet.
