Matt Bullard route vs Uthoff route

Bullard chose Colorado over Iowa, then transferred to Iowa. Made immediate impact. Took Iowa far in NCAA tourney, had solid NBA career, and 2 more rings than LeBron has. Uthoff has made a great decision!

I thought Bullard never had an Iowa offer? I don't remember for sure.

Looking at old newspaper articles, here's what I found

1983- Raveling takes over at Iowa before Bullard's junior year at Valley of West Des Moines

1985-86 Bullard leads Colorado in scoring and rebounding as a freshman

1986 Spring - Raveling leaves Iowa for USC;
Iowa hires Tom Davis;
Colorado hires Tom Miller

1986-87 Bullard leads Colorado in scoring and rebounding as a sophomore

1987 August- Bullard transfers to Iowa

1988 June- Bullard (and two others) say they left Colorado because of physical abuse by Tom Miller

1988 October- NCAA says Kentucky coach Dan Issel made illegal contact with Bullard when Bullard was looking to transfer from Colorado

Whaaaaaaaaaaa? Not Kentucky. Anybody but Kentucky. Is nothing sacred?

Huh? WTF? I'm at a loss how you're able to draw any sort of correlation between the two. However, given your definition of 'lead' and 'far in NCAA tourney' I probably shouldn't be too surprised by this head scratching post.

History lesson for ya Austin-
Matt came off the bench his JR year and averaged 9 PPG. Iowa lost in the 2nd round of NCAA. Neither one of those constitute leading or going far in NCAA tourney.
Matt started his SR year and averaged a shade over 11 PPG. Iowa went 12-16.

Oh, and he did not have an Iowa offer out of HS and, as you stated, he only had the one ring. Besides having inaccurate facts this was a solid post.

My memory is getting a little foggy, but from what I remember, Bullard was basically a 3-point specialist.. If Uthoff can do what Bullard did - basically come in and hit 3 or 4 threes per game on average, I'd certainly take that.

Bullard was more than a 3 point specialist for and in fairness injuries derailed him quite a bit. However, If we get out of Uthoff what we got out of Bullard I would take that any day, especially if he did that coming off the bench. I'm not suggesting Uthoff isn't good enough to start because I wouldn't know, but I would like to see us have a guy off the bench give us consistent production.
