Very interesting article on player development under Ferentz vs the rest of the BCS

The program matters, and it matters a great deal. The choice of the right (or wrong) program can double a recruit's chances at the NFL, or it can halve them! And in the special case of Duke, bury them completely. The programs at the top - Iowa, Cal, USC and Ohio State - can back up their happy talk on the recruiting trail with a sparkling resume. Over the past decade these programs have developed their players at a level significantly above the average BCS program. They have taken their recruits and made more out of them than their initial abilities would have indicated, with the NFL factory of Iowa under Kirk Ferentz leading the way by nearly doubling the NFL chances of every recruit that takes their talents to Iowa City.
Player Development 2012: Grading the Journey from High-school Recruit to the NFL - Black Heart Gold Pants

This isn't going to assuage any critics of the Saturday play-calling, but there is no doubt that Kirk and company can coach 'em up as well (better even) than anyone in the country.

Yes, but it's a positive and some of us like that sort of thing published about our favorite program. I think the more it is circulated the more it may come into the hands of potential recruits and their parents and help Iowa get more of the players that they want.

Good point, i like to keep these articles pushed to the top so they are easily found by the likes of potential recruits!

Didn't this article just get published today?

In any case, I think everyone is aware that coaching up the players is not the only responsibility a coach has. This article even mentions that right at the beginning.

But how can it be a bad thing to give some praise to the coaching staff for something they are obviously doing right? I don't know if you read it, but I thought the analysis in this article actually pretty convincing - and it makes for a heck of a recruiting pitch to boot.

Thatll make em forget about back to back 7 win seasons.

These are just great stats and incredible proof of method to develop technique and build the body to be NFL ready. If this would influence a recruit, I don't know what would. If you want to go to the NFL, your chances go up in a big way, if you go to Iowa.

Now, KF needs to translate this into victories and B10 championships. I honestly feel the program has momentum on the recruiting trails over the past few years. Even the Rhabdo thing didn't deter this. If we hadn't had the RB issues, and the DL attrition, well, things would be looking pretty strong this year. That being said, I think this year could surprise on the field and if we get QB play next year, we are going to be solid everywhere.

OutofTown's attitude shouldn't surprise you considering he has a picture of DJK as his avatar. Picture perfect.

I changed it. I want to make sure that this thread pulls in as many recruits as possible. If they read this thread....wait scratch that when they read this thread we will have recruits beating down the doors.

ranked 2nd in back 7 on defense... I kinda new we always have players drafted from our secondary, but its crazy we are that good!
out of 119 we are 2nd... I wonder how many NFL teams have an iowa starter?

Now you're just being fake. I'd have more respect for you if you continued to show your true colors. I was just pointing out the irony between your crappy attitude and your DJK avatar.

No you dont understand DJK was one of the best WRs in school history but he screwed up and we should not talk about him. The recruits come to this thread to see if they should go to Iowa. We must only talk about positives if front the the recruits.
