Teh old system has been dead for 15 years and it isn't coming back. You have two choices now, teh BCS or a playoff.

Yearning for 1964 isn't going to suddenly make teh Big 10 relevant.

I prefer that as well. I used to cry for a playoff, but that's in comparison to the BCS. I don't feel that the system was broken in the first place.

Yeah, i know they ruined college football many years ago. It's never coming back.
 


He uses it as a crutch because it gives the conference boat loads of money. If a B1G team was ranked #1 or #2 the B1G runner up would go to the Rose, or possibly a team from another conference like they did with TCU. He wouldn't prevent the team from going to the NCG in order to save face, he'd want them to go because that would also give the conference a lot of money. He likes the 4 teams+ Rose because it could be the best of both worlds. Don't act as if the Pac-12 commissioner is against the Rose Bowl.

Who cares what Nebraska fans think, they are never even going to win the conference now that Michigan and OSU are getting back to their old selves.

They will be lucky to make an at large BCS.
 


I think the polls got it right most of the time. I also think the BCS gets it right most of the time.

From a marketing perspective, the BCS is brilliant.
 


Honestly, I could care less about any bowl anymore.

The system has become a complete joke. Voting and computer formulas? The bowls get to choose which teams they wan't based on who is going to make them the most money? Give me a break. Its absurd and every game but one is meaningless anyway.

Once everyone gets a championship game just have winners of the conferences do a playoff.

Agree, there are so many stupid bowl games between weak a** schools. It really has made the entire system a joke. As other posters have stated, I wish it was like the good old days, before cellular devices and the dial up internet. It was cool watching all the games on Jan 1 knowing this was it for the season, it just seemed like it ment more back in the day.

I agree that the bowl system is dead.

But Delany is anything but stupid, regardless of what he says now, you dont get to be where hes at by not being a forward thinker. I think the BTN is proof of that.

Im sure he knows a playoff eventually has to happen, but his job is to put the bigten in the best possible position not what is best for college football.

If DTwill was running things we would still be using 8 track tapes. I have never come across someone that resists change as much as Twill able to use the computer let alone get on the internet.

Sorry for being a stick in the mud, but I just don't understand why people want to change so many things about a sport they supposedly care so much about. College football has traditions that go back to before most people's grandparents were even alive. If you like the NFL, watch the NFL. If you like March madness, watch basketball. If you like Oregon-style uniform makeovers, watch "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy". Don't btch and moan and try to force that stuff on the sceond-greatest sport the world has ever known.

Thing is I never want to see a all SEC national championship again. I respect your opinions but the option of going back to the way it was will never be an option. So they have to do something.

I did not read all the post, so I am sorry if this has been said before.
Nobody has, what we have. You can not get there from here. So what if Nebby wants to talk crap, they dont have the shoe, they dont have Wisky and they dont have playing Mich. Year in and year out. Get it? Good. You can not buy that. If you want to it will take more then some crap azz writer from some crap azz paper.
