Dinardo sat with Davis and they went over Iowa's zone blocking. It is obvious that Iowa still wants to be a run first offense. They showed how Iowa uses the run plays to set up pass plays because the blocking is almost identical.

Nothing was brought up about wrinkles that Davis might put in.

it would be enlightening for anyone who doesnt understand what the zone blocking scheme is (which is a lot of people). it shows how well davis already understands kf's child (zone blocking) and is obvious we are not changing from it. if you understand what is happening in the film they show you can see how the oline may not be pushing people down the field yet still be manhandling the defense like hawkeyegamefilm said about the spring practice/game. if the rb does his job right he forces the lbs to get caught in flow without getting great downfield movement by the linemen which allows for playaction to look almost identical to the run. gd did state how you want the oline to get verical but it is first predicated on horizontal movement and double teams.

watching that made me disappointed that I don't have all the coaching answers from my spot on the couch! :D

I thought Davis came off well in the segment, and Dinardo and Griffin were lauding him afterwards as a good teacher.

So did I and at the end of the segment Dinardo also commented he had offered a job to Davis while he was at LSU.

I think he did a great job he said enough, without really saying anything ;). Yes, you could tell the BTN crew was impressed and from the job offer comment, they have been for some time.

Saw the replay this morning.

My greatest criticism of KOK - lack of playing to strengths / attacking opposing D weaknesses (general lack of game management & adjustments).
Unless absolutely forced to (see 2004 success).

By all accounts, and this segment solidified that perception, GD's skills are playing to strengths / attacking opposing D weaknesses.

He can only work with what he has but I feel far more confident that the offense will adapt each week to ensure that they are strategically in the best position to succeed. I will accept getting beat by a better opponent and that will happen this year. It will be refreshing to not "lose" due to inherent limitations in the gameplan that created another obstacle for the offense to overcome.
