Dayton - Tough Customer

Looking over Dayton's schedule this season.

They have some wins against the power 6 teams. They beat Minny by 16 points at the barn. Even some of their losses against good teams were close.

The Atlantic 10 got 4 teams in the NCAA tourney.

Should be a tough game but I'm pumped that we got in!
 


Yes this is one hell of an opponent for Iowa, they play in one of the better "mid major" conferences and played a strong OOC.

Dillard,their star pg,played at Homewood-Flossmoor in the south chicago suburbs and was a great HS player. He went to SIU then transferred. He is the son of former great DePaul guard,Skip Dillard,who played with Mark Aguirre and Terry Cummings.

Dayton is extremely quick and athletic,and will be hard to run against.
 




Scary that they have so many guys that score. We have provided a number of career high scoring opportunities for too many opponents this season. Our bad defense can be somewhat negated by good offense, but that requires more than Gatens to step up. Basabe and Cartwright...please bring your A games Tuesday night.

Dayton did beat Minnesota, but it was not at the Barn. They beat Minnesota in the finals of the Old Spice Tournament in Orlando, Florida. Minnesota was the "home" team in that game. That was also the game that Mbawke was hurt for the season, he got injured early in the second half of that game. But Dayton led by 9 at halftime, even with Mbawke in the game.

Flyers have a nice team. Will be a good game.
