Auburn picked up a commitment from Brian Greene Jr. this morning ... auburn.scout.com/2/1164267.html

Greene never had a offer. this has been pointed out before here and on the recruiting boards. even Kakert of HR on the rivals board stated this that the posting by rivals was a mistake.

unless Fran can find a player that can guantee a invitation to the dance, i say save it, and face it we lose just May, as i just don't see Fran recruiting the type of kids that are selfish in nature and quit or transfer out like the kids in the past.
Even Tom Davis didn't have that problem.

I bet we save the scholarship for next year. No reason to use it, just to use. Unless on it's a big time recruit.

This logic blows me away. Save it unless it's a big time recruit? For starters, how many big time recruits do we typically get? Secondly, we aren't a very good team and need help.

What do you expect to get from Basabe, Mccabe, May and Olaseni? Apparently a lot more than I do. McCaffrey didn't do much to address pressing needs of the team from season 1 to season 2 and without White blowing up, which rarely happens, his first class would be extremely pedestrian.

I love the fact the above poster simply dismisses White's success without giving Fran credit.

You don't bring in a marginal player as the 6th man of a recruiting class.

Well next year two with Woodbury and Gessel.

We have two really good posts and two very good PGs coming in this class. Unless we can magically find a wing that is head and shoulders above Patrick Ingram there is no point in wasting a scholarship. The only position available is at the wing and there is probably not of wings out there that we can get that are better than Ingram. It's late in the year find players that are ahead of the ones we already have in this already large recruiting class.

You seem unaware of how long it takes to establish recruiting connections for basketball. BB players are identified early and if teams dont start recruiting players by their soph year of high school, you dont get the good ones. Especially with all the AAU teams and the AAU people who like to control the contact with their players.

And to answer your question, I expect quite a bit from Basabe, McCabe and Olesani next year. Basabe had soph slump but I think he comes back to be a factor as he wont have to play the C position. Hopefully May will be able to stay healthy and be the game time player that Fran has seen in practice. Would love to see more of those dunks he showed us as freshman.
