did you watch the huddle at the game

Just like you have to call bank shots during HORSE I have officially predicted that Mel will not be a Hawkeye next year. No specific info, just my gut.

No **** he is frustrated. He's not performing like he knows he is capable of. That doesn't mean he is going to transfer. I am sick and tired of hearing people who have no ******* clue speculate that Basabe is transferring, for no other reason than he doesn't "look right." No matter that these people have no idea what he is like in practice (by all accounts he is playing very well in practice) or in his day to day life. Get a ******* life instead of sitting here behind the anonymity of your keyboard and coming up with unwarranted speculation about the players that are busting their ***** for YOUR entertainment.

I couldn't care less how Mel looks when not in the game.

He has been playing hard when he gets in. I actually don't understand why Fran leaves him on the bench for such long periods of time.

He gets two fouls and then Fran forgets about him all while Iowa cant get a rebound to save their life.

That's my boy...

blue is my favorite boy, he has guts to tie the barrel to his thing:D

It would surprise me if Basabe was gone. He is frustrated beyond all we know. There have been games where he had great position and the guards couldn't get him the ball.
The difference is this season is Cartwright, they worked well together off the drive. Other guards cannot get good inlet passes to him. I don't remember what game it was, but all the guards had to do was throw it to the rim and it was a dunk...
The reason he has struggeld the most is because he doesn't have any sembalnce of a real post move.
Basabe will be just fine when Iowa gets a true PG next year.

Iowa is one of the worst half-court offense teams because the guards can't get good angles to throw to the post in a lot of cases. Not having Cole or a "true center" on the the floor is not hurting Mel. Passing and being an awful half-court team along with no real go-to post move are a formula for frustration.

For the life of me I don't understand why no one on this team can feed the post. Every time its there, they look at it and then for some reason hesitate and let the defender recover rather than just making a simple play. We probably attempt the least amount of post feeds of any D1 team.

Fran needs to hire Tom Davis as a post entry feed consultant.
