Here is why Illinois basketball, is not one of the best jobs in the country or the Big 10.
That school does a horrible job in all sports of owning Chicago. Kids in Chicago could care less about Illinois. It's downstate which for kids in Chicago may as well be Arkansas.
Meanwhile, kids from all over Chicago go to Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, and Kansas. Kids in St. Louis could just as easily go to Mizzou. The fact that it is in-state means nothing if they are on scholarship, and none of them grow up Illinois fans.

Boss is right. Iowa City to Chicago is pretty much the same distance as Champaign to Chicago.
