University of Iowa of Iowa forward Aaron White has been named Big Ten co-Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning. White shares the honor with Northwestern rookie Dave Sobolewski. This marks the third time this season that White has earned the weekly distinction (Nov. 14 and Dec. 26).

White (6-foot-8, 225) helped propel the Hawkeyes to a pair of home victories over Minnesota and Penn State last week. In the two games, he averaged 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two blocks and 1.5 steals.

The Strongsville, Ohio, native had 17 points and nine rebounds and posted personal bests in blocks (three), assists (four) and steals (two) in the Hawkeyes’ 77-64 win over the Nittany Lions Saturday afternoon.

Against the Golden Gophers, he snagged seven rebounds and scored nine points.

I love the way this kid plays. He came in with a chip on his shoulder and it shows. Also like the story about him getting locked out of the gym at midnight while he was in the bathroom and ended up sleeping in the visitors locker room. He took the comments about conditioning to heart is obviously working his butt off all hours of the day.

I cant wait to watch White pwn Shurna Thursday.

I'll be at the game. I've been to prolly 5 Iowa games at that high school gym and we've lost every time. If we defend the perimeter like we did against PSU, we will lose by double digits.

This is about AW, leave the purple in Evanston.

Um, sorry if you can't read the original post, which says White shared the award. "White shares the honor with Northwestern rookie Dave Sobolewski."

Don't worry, buddy, we'll have a PG next year and prolly for the first time in 4 or 5 years, we'll actually have a better PG than Northwestern.

They will probably go man against NW okeefe. But I agree if we go zone they could rip us a new buthole.

When is the last time we won in Evanston?

I think it was '08, but I couldn't make it to the game. The one that stung the most was the unfortunate loss to NU in 2006 where they beat a very strong Alford led team on some major luck at the end of the game.

Correct on 2008. 2nd to last game of the year it looks like. Lick always had his teams playing their best at the end of the year.

Vedran Vukusic...that name still gives me the shakes.

In Order:
Cody Zeller - clearly the best of the best
Trey Burke - will likely get some first place votes but will finish 2nd
Aaron White - we love him and his stats are solid but he will finish 3rd

Brandon Dawson
David Sobolewski
Joe Coleman

I hate agreeing with this Northwestern troll but he is right. Penn State missed some wide open looks on the perimeter and if you give NW those kind of looks it will be a long/painful game to watch.
