NCAA allows tOSU to have 2 coaching staffs?

I don't get why they allow that. Is this normal?

They approved to allow Luke fickel and his staff to prepare the team for the bowl game, and allow Urban Meyer and his new staff to handle recruiting.

Source was the "ticker" on ESPN.

Maybe this is standard procedure, I just haven't heard of it before.

Does this happen normally?

They had to get a waiver. I believe Michigan did the same thing in '07 after Carr "retired"

Which begs the question, "if an Iowa coach is going to "retire" then why not try to do the same thing?

Pretty sure this waiver is only in cases where an almost complete staff overhaul is taking place. Wouldnt apply if a team was replacing an OC or DC.

So OSU coach is a cheater, players are cheaters, it is an ongoing pattern, and instead of making the institution pay for the mistake, they are given special treatment to make a coaching change easier? With the NCAA, this makes perfect sense.

This is a huge advantage for OSU. Full attention on recruiting during this time puts all bowl teams at a disadvantage. At the very least, the new staff should not be able to contact potential recruits until after the bowl game.

Agree that it's an unfair advantage. I wonder if other B1G coaches feel now that they must focus more on recruiting to the detriment of bowl preparation in order to compete with tOSU for recruits. Could this actually work to the disadvantage of the conference in bowl game results? Maybe that's far fetched, I don't know.
