Only difference between Iowa and Wisconsin right now is.....

Wisconsin had every break and domino fall their way to put them in the BCS title game. How come they're playing in the Rose Bowl instead?

haha this thread is hilarious.

and whats the difference between us an LSU?! Five more wins?! Some of you just cant accept Iowa sucks and is nowhere near the level we once were.

Wisconsin has a bigger offensive line, a very good QB and a pretty darn good running back too. I'd say it goes beyond attitude.

the words you are looking for is talent and depth, i believe......

when iowa has better of both it seems that the staff has remembered how to coach again, has the fire and passion, and the players play with attitude.......

how many of these threads do faux-hox need to post??

BB is a very talented recruiter

The attitude quotient comes from the fact that he sells his program on tv, radio etc... and that resonates with recruits.

He isn't a better coach than Kirk Ferentz, that is for sure. But Kirk Ferentz could learn a thing or two from Biels on program development.

Yes, pretty much. My problem with boiling it down to an intangible is that it ignores what is probably the real issue. Making it more difficult to fix. We're just not as good as some teams and it goes beyond effort and attitude.

I hate to say this, but I think Bielema is a MUCH better gameday coach than Ferentz. For one thing, he has the mindset that they are there to win the game and will do whatever it takes to do so. Often, we seem to be playing not to lose the game. Not the same thing.

Bert won the game by punting. The Kirkken loves to punt.

Bert = Kirk

Kirkken> Bert

Kirkkennorm is soo much better than Bert that there isnt even a symbol for it.

I don't disagree with anyone that says depth on the defensive line is an issue right now. And I do agree that Wisky is more aggressive recruiting. That is a definite plus. No doubt.

But I don't agree they are more talented than Iowa's roster or deeper for that matter anywhere other than Dline. If they were so deep, why were they so desparate for Russell Wilson's services. They along with a handful of other programs NEEDED a starting QB. Nobody else was recruiting Wilson other than teams who needed a starter, and needed one this year. The defections have hurt Iowa's defensive line, but I've always felt they both recruit the same type of players.

I say all that to say, the attitude of the Badger program is the difference right now. I'm not going to say KF and the coaching staff's leadership has changed because I don't know that it has. But the on-field leadership has definitely fallen off the last 2 years. The health of your program reflects the attitude you use to carry your program. Wisky is playing with an edge, Iowa isn't. If you have the attitude that I stated at the start of this thread, Iowa is 9-3 right now, and I can say with certainty that the club that showed up to PSU and Nebby is a different bunch. It starts with attitude.

I would add talent, size on both O and D lines, physicality and good coaching. WI plays to win and is willing to take some risks. After watching MSU and WI, it is painfully obvious we will be competing for the Meineke Car Bowl for years to come.

Attitude

Bielema and this program have a chip on their shoulder. Maybe a little more arrogance than a KF program, but I see the same attitude from Wisconsin right now that I saw as KF started getting things rollning in 2002. Say what you want about him, but right now, he has this program playing with an attitude that says "bring your lunch pail if you play us, and we are going to find a way to beat you."

Next year will be interesting to see what they do at QB, but he definitely has the program buying into what he is preaching. He's winning, and it's oozing out of him and his program. It's the type of attitude you have to have if you want to create a winning formula, environment, and culture.

This might be the worst post of the year. Sorry.

Don't mind criticism, in fact love good feedback. But anything of substance to add to the discussion?

I don't think my reaction to this thread is any less substantive than saying Wisconsin's staff is more successful than Iowa's solely because they wake up every day thinking more positive and/or aggressive thoughts.

I've played (college - and can say the same for high school) on teams that have had winning seasons and teams that have had losing seasons... The attitude was no difference on either of the teams. It was all about experience and the talent on the field. Anyone who's played very much understands that...
