Derby Move to LB is Permanent

Re: Derby Move to Safety is Permanent

Iowa certainly wouldn't want a scrambling QB like Banks at the helm...far too unpredictable.

Good for him! Great football players seek the field at any chance they can. I think this speaks well for him.

This can (and will) be an excellent opportunity for AJ. He got his hands dirty on special teams coverage today and was an instant impact. I predict he will be on the fast track to starting by next season and will get meaningful backup reps yet this year.

As horrible as the LB's have played this year (with the inconsistent exception of Kirksey) there would be minimal, if any, drop off. In fact, he has a slight size and quicks advantage right now that would pay dividends on actually providing some semblence of an obstacle to opposing QB's and shallow crossing routes routinely gutting the defense.

A brand-new Human Torpedo in the works on special teams.....

KF has had some success converting QB's to other positions....

Seems to me, this happened a while ago with a guy by the name of McNutt. Ferentz has a history in this respect which I believe we should respect.

The sad thing is that if he would have started at LB, he starts last year

I really like the move. We need a talent bump on defense more for the next couple of years than this year. Need to get work that DL recruiting and DB's but, I like the foundation of this defense doing forward.

sure did.

he doesn't like being wrong, that guy.

just like when a few weeks ago on soundoff he claimed Shonn Greene didn't go to juco - making a point against a caller regarding players going to juco and then coming back to iowa - as did Greene. a caller called in and called him on it and he said - but he didn't play football in juco - called said basically - duh, they didn't have a football team.

Some of Iowa's best players under Ferentz came in at one position and then moved too another so this is a really weird thing to get upset about.

I dont like to be wrong, no. Show me a guy that does, and I'll show you a *****.

That being said, I dont have a problem admitting I am wrong. I do it regularly

The Juco thing was about how it rarely works out when guys leave your program and go Juco, that they make it back...more often than not, they don't, which is the fact.

I deleted the third reply in this thread about my tying Safety because I knew it would take away from the actual topic which was far more important, except to a select few personality types. I edited it, moved on. So should you

Was there ever a question if the move was permanent or not? Has there ever a been a player to leave the qb position to play another until the starting spot opened up? Qb is the toughest position in fball... all your time would need to be focused on it.
