Is that we've been recruiting at a very high level for a while now.

This isn't your Dad's Iowa Hawkeyes.

There is really no excuse for our team to play that poorly. Did ISU have something to do with that, sure?

But it's not like we are trotting freshmen out there. When you are an elite program and recruit well, you are not supposed to have such dramatic talent drop offs.

JVB looks like he has zero moxie.

I mean, we weren't going to win the national championship this year and there is still the Big 10 season.

But, I have a hard time justifying in my head why the Iowa Hawkeyes looked like that today.
 


Also I have to say that one thing frustrates me about KF more than anything else.

He obviously built this program in a very deliberate way. He knows how to coach up, we all know that.

But does he know how to coach a team that simply needs to be coached, and not coached up?

It seems like he is significantly better at fixing being lousy than maintaing being good. I don't think anyone could argue that he handles success or pressure very well.

Just an observation.
 


Our 2007 and 2008 classes were not that good. We are seeing that now. Not many impact players in our RS Senior and True senior/RS JR classes. We recruited poorly at LB and DL and other than Prater the defensive backfield. It's hurting us.
 


Iowa is not an elite program by any stretch. Proved that today. ISU has more Iowa kids on the roster, and this game just means more to them.
 


I think the team is just a year too young. And by that I mean if the guys on defense were a year older, this team would be much better.

I don't know what else to say, honestly. If you guys think Iowa is an elite program (again, seriously?) with consistently great year in, year out recruiting classes, you're about to have a very upsetting year.

Also - those saying we are not elite.

We are PAYING for elite.

The moderator of this website DRILLS IT into our heads every week during the season that we are a top 20 program over the past decade.

That is elite my friends.
