I must be Missing something

When it came to Nebraska because I don't understand all the hype. They have 14 returning starters from a teamt that finnished very week at the end of last year. There returning QB is not very good and that is being nice and to make it worse he has no back up so if he goes down or at least plays as bad as he did last year they have no one on the binch to go to. They do have a very good D but at the end of the day if your O is as bad as I feel there's is going to be how are you going to win close games? I can't help but feel that once again NU is over hyped like they have been for the past 10 years, but I will admit I'm not an expert so maybe I'm missing something.

You are missing something. "Not very good players" often times end up on pre-season award watch lists, do they not?

Oh, and the reason he finished poorly last year is because, umm, he had injuries to both of his legs.

74, you seem like a resonable Husker fan. I am not sure and I bet you know, how many games or game time did T-Mart miss last year due to injuries?

He sprained his ankle game 8 against Mizzou, missed about half of that game as well as game 9 vs. ISU (clown fans, fyi, all 3 of our qb's were injured for or in this game). He played pretty poorly against Kansas in game 10, then he reinjured his ankle as well as suffered a turf toe injury against A&M in game 11. He missed game 12 vs. CU, and then pretty much played like crap for the next 2 games. He got pulled vs. UW in the Holiday Bowl.

So, he pretty much missed 3+ games due to injury.

Well, fortunately the B1G plays two-hand touch, so he won't have that problem again.

Never said that. It's football, it's violent, people get injured, regardless of which league they play in.

So you would say he missed about 3 games total? Played hurt in 3 or 4 more?

I only saw Neb play a few games last year, was not impressed. Their D is solid and will keep them in games but I don't see them winning the division.

Ok, fine I will play by myself. If T-mart missed a total of 3 games last year that equals around 20% of the season (14 games), if he played hurt for another 3-4, that would mean either he was not up to speed or not playing at all in about 40% of the games. That is not good for a freshman. How much "growth" can you expect from that??
Also he played for 3 different HS's, and was injured his soph year playing free safety. What was the "injury"? I have no idea. But it does need to be looked at, if it was a leg/ankle injury back then. Can he run? Yes. Does he have the legs that will keep him in a season of D1 ball? Who knows. But I have a feeling we are going to find out.

Yeah, pretty much.

And, the dude was a redshirt freshman last year. A guy who played as a scout team WR the year before. He was swimming in it last year. Will he be heathy and make progress this year, who knows? Hopefully.

We really don't know what the offense will be this year. It will be interesting for opposing DCs to try to figure it out when Husker Nation has no clue.

He did play for 3 different HS's, but I don't know anything about his injury from that time.

All I know is that when healthy, he is as fast of a guy as there is in college football. Will he hold up? Who knows, injuries happen.

Yes injuries do happen, I was only trying to point out that if it has been the same injury as it was in HS, you all better start looking into getting some talent to back him up.

"Prior to coming to Lincoln, Taylor Martinez played for three different high school football teams in four years. He spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at Norco High School in Norco, California, where he played free safety before an injury forced him to miss his sophomore year. Offensively, Norco was a running team and Martinez wanted to play quarterback in a system that also threw the ball. So he transferred to San Bernardino Cajon during the middle of his sophomore year after his father was offered an assistant coaching job at the school. As a junior, Martinez played quarterback for SBC, accounting for 1,500 total yards of offense. But he departed after the end of the first semester, enrolling at Centennial High School in Corona, California. Martinez said the move was triggered by a family medical situation. He filed for a hardship waiver to play football for Centennial that was denied, so his family was forced to move into the Centennial district for him to gain eligibility."

He played 3 out of 4 years of HS ball and missed or was not up to game speed 40% of his fresh year in D1 ball. Also if all this is correct he played 2 years as qb in HS, combine that with what he played or didnt play last year and well, make up your own mind on what a reasonable person would conclude.

74, I didnt hurt your feelings did I? Sometimes I can come off as an a hole or a db, that is not my intent. I think you are one of the better husker fans I have ran into, and for one do not mind at all you coming over here to talk about things. Lord knows you are better than any of the clown trolls we get over here. So please do not allow my inability to not be an a hole to turn you off of posting over here. I rather enjoy your posting abilities and insight to the game.

HA! Yep, we're all a bunch of softies. NU will have no problem rolling through the conference.

Sorry to all the NU fans out there, but this is the reason you are viewed as an arrogant fanbase. I know all of you aren't like this, and every team has there own, but it doesn't help when the new kid in a new school helps put a target on his back.
