Iowa Western

Who have we kept while at IWCC?? Prater's brother didnt come back to Iowa. The FL athlete (cant recall his name) was not recruited back to Iowa. IWCC has only had a football program for few years and Iowa has placed a few players there but I dont recall any of them coming back to Iowa.

David Blackwell wasn't invited back to Iowa. Prater's brother was nothing more than a package deal.

I think the poster is actually referring to a player or two that did a "hiatus" at Iowa Central
(Clinton Solomon, for one)

If Coe applies himself he could get a lot of interest in a couple years. I would hope he'd still choose Iowa City. Likewise, a dedicated and refocused Wegher if he were to prove himself there. Wegher back with Hawkeyes is a long shot, Coe hopefully much less so.

I had heard that Coe was bigger. Hopefully it's good weight. Also heard he'd be playing DE there instead of RB. I hope that part is true. I think if he learns that position he could be a monster when he comes back to us. (assuming he does).

I have heard it is not good weight. He is out of shape. The way things sound, I would be surprised if he ever suits up for Iowa at RB. Maybe comes to Iowa as a TE or on the DL.

Sounds like he may be more of a John Clay than a Ron Dayne and may be outgrowing his position. (or maybe he just got lazy when he found out he wasn't getting into Iowa).

Let's hope he gets things in order while at Western. Heard he is a great athlete no matter what position.

Honestly I wouldnt mind having wegher back on the team. He has had a couple of issues but it would be a good backfield having coe and wegher run the ball. Better than Wegher and Robinson were. As for Coe, ya I hope that weight is good weight. Would love to see this guy play OLB or DE.

Tell me some more about this.

Chad

Here's our track record with getting guys back from JUCO:

ICCC -
Spievey - returned
Solomon - returned
Paine - would have returned were it not for off-field issues

NIACC - (team now disbanded ... former coach now at IWCC)
Robertson - gone
Bailey - gone

IWCC -
Prater - gone
Blackwell - gone
Coe - we'll see

Kirkwood - (no football team)
Greene - returned

-----------------------------------------

Quick list of Iowa Community College guys who we've brought on board (apart from recruits who ended up returning) ...

- Yanda (NIACC)
- Heiar (IWCC)
- Forgy (Ellsworth) - walk-on
- Griswold (ICCC) - walk-on
- Moylan (ICCC) - walk-on
- Smith (ICCC) - walk-on

Thanks, good research per usual. I was reading that the DL and head S&C coach at IWCC is former Hawkeye DT, Corey Brown. I'd think if Coe as widely believed ends up at DL that having a Hawkeye DL alum would be a positive in getting him to I.C. So, hope Rodney does all he needs on and off the field to get himself to Iowa. The young man could still have a stellar career if he does so.

thanks for the credit gopher nigh I wasz under the impression spivey, Solomon, and Greene all went to western. oops.

Where else but Twitter. It's from a pretty decent source:

b_wegs Brandon Wegher
Off to IWCC! Tough decision, but things will work out. Im going to miss my #family #Brody #friends #hooligans

Before I catch too much ****, I have a perfectly logical explanation for following him on twitter.

I didn't realize he had a Twitter. Do you know if he accepts random follow requests, or is it mostly people he knows?

Funny you ask, that's my excuse for following him. Found him one day and saw it was private so requested to let me follow him, didn't think he'd approve but he did. And here we are.
