Urbandale's Travis Perry talks about becoming a Hawkeye

Good stuff Chris...thanks for linking it.

Shane,

Thanks for reading this. Any suggestions on what you'd like to see going forward if I do stuff like this? It is all new to me. I am not trying to compete w/ anyone, just trying to bring a different angle. My job is actually to specifically cover kids in central Iowa, and Perry was really the only one this year that is going anywhere to play D1 football. I'll have lots of stuff on Amara Darboh over next few months, as well as other D1 athletes.

And thanks again to Jon Miller for ReTweeting this link to his 4,000+ followers on Twitter earlier tonight. I appreciate it very much!

I would love if you could get an interview with Joel Lanning of Ankeny. I know he's only a sophomore, but I think he has the potential to be one of the best athletes to ever come out of central Iowa. I am interested what coaches he has heard from so far and what sport he thinks he will end up picking (if he has decided yet).
Also, how do you define "Central Iowa"? I would say Williamsburg is relatively central, so maybe a piece on Austin Blythe would be cool.

Yeah, I should have been more specific. My title is "Des Moines High School Sports Examiner," so I am basically focusing on the CIML.

I know who Lanning is, and you are right he's legit. Saw him throw 4 TDs on opening night at Waukee. I believe he was hurt at one point this season, and I kind of lost track on how he finished down the stretch. Obviously his team made it to the semifinals, before losing a close game to Dowling.

I will catch up with him this spring/summer. I have lots of ideas for that "dead" period once basketball is over and until football starts.

Thanks for the suggestion, jumper. Keep 'em coming! :)

Eh...I'm probably the wrong person to ask for suggestions, Chris. I don't follow HS sports all THAT closely. But I'll definitely keep an eye out for anything that catches it...of course, as soon as I say that, one pops into my head...I would like to know more about Peter Jok...he seems like an interesting kid.

Good stuff Chris, Perry definitely seems to fit the classic walk-on mold for Ferentz. Any chance you'd be able to have a sit down like this with Darboh? Or are you going to kind of leave him alone until he's made his decision next year?

I know both Pete and Amara personally. I talk to Amara often, Pete not as much. I will have plenty on both this spring/summer.

Here is a piece I did on Amara a couple weeks ago when Coach Campbell and Coach Morgan were in the house to check him out.

Darboh, Dowling Catholic take down 2nd-ranked Ankeny - Des Moines High School Sports | Examiner.com

Thanks again for reading guys.

I can't wait till Perry see's the field for the Hawkeyes.

What I really can't wait for is headlines such as "Travis Perry presents Travis Perry's House of Pain!"

I want to chime in ...nice job on the Perry piece.
Also agree that would love to hear about other potential hawkeye recruits in central Iowa....especially darboh and Jok....Jok could be huge for Iowa bb....
