Harbaugh turns down $5.2 million Michigan offer!



I read that and saw that the raiders are interested. who in their right mind would want to coach the raiders if ANY other job was available. I like the team, but who would want to work for Al Davis. He's a complete idiot.
 


He even played at Michigan! That just tells you what kind of shape that program is in right now. They offer $5+M and can't land their own alum. NOT GOOD!
 




That link says the info is from Reuters yet I don't see anything on the Reuters site. I'm not buying it just yet.
 


If he turned it down, its part of the negotiations.

He can go to Michigan and have his job for life. He can go NFL and be fired within 5 years.

job for life if he wins. charlie weis was an ND guy and he didnt last long. teams like mich have little patients unlike Stanford where he probably can stay for life.

Being an alum will probably earn him a little more slack, though. The NFL is pretty harsh.
 


frank solich at nebraska was an alum and hand picked by Osborne. 2 years after playing for a MNC he was canned. programs like these arnt in the patience business.

In that particular case, it would be well-served to remember that Nebraska didn't even win the Big 12 North that year. They were blown out by Colorado, 62-36, keeping them out of the conference title game. Then they were blown out by Miami 37-14 in the Rose Bowl (they started that game down 34-0). Hardly an impressive run to the NCG. So Solich didn't really have that to fall back on to defend himself.
 






He ought to take the Niners job. Division sucks, he could go to playoffs right away. And he wouldn't even have to move.
 




He's meeting with the Dolphin's owner today and is expected to get an offer to become the highest paid coach in the NFL.
 




Michigan grad, benefactor and Dolphin owner, Stephen Ross, met Jim during the Orange Bowl prep. He informed Harbaugh that he could make much more than the $5.2 mm offer from Big Blue. Oh, the irony.
 




The word is today the Phins are expecting to offer him somewhere between 7 and 8 million per season. The 5.2 scUM offered him is chump change.
 


I would like to point out the fact I have been ridiculed for claiming that an NFL team would pay much more than Michigan.
