With Parker's Return ....

... I have a feeling we will see a different Iowa defense on the field tonight.

I look for the traditional Iowa defense to be back and play well.

Based on what JamesK?
Parker was on the field when Western Michigan beat Iowa. Parker was on the field for most of the losses to Northwestern. Parker was on the field for the close wins against IU, UNI, and Ark. St. Heck, Parker was on the field for all the predicted blowout games against PU that turned into nail-biters.

What I'm saying is Parker has a defensive philosophy that doesn't defend spread offenses well. I'm also saying this year's performance by the defense was a continuation of Parker's philosophy even though Parker was absent.

Do you have your fingers and toes crossed?

Boy, I hope this lights a fire under the defense - I hope I'm wrong.

With mentioned games the offense didn't exactly light it up.

I think with the return of Norm Parker we will see a more focused, better prepared defense with better defensive alignments.

Why do you think Iowa lost to OSU, Minn, Northwestern, and Zona? It wasn't the defense.

Yes, actually, it was. Iowa had the lead against OSU, Minnesota, and Northwestern with less than 5 minutes remaining. They were tied with Arizona with less than 5 minutes remaining. The defense couldn't come up with the stop because they stayed in the Cover 2, and got dinked and dunked down the entire field and made no changes. Don't post when you don't know what you're talking about.

Sorry but you are dead wrong.

Zona game - Iowa really only gives up 1 offensive TD to Arizona all game. Iowa's defense forced 3 turnovers. Special teams lost this game not defense

Wisconsin -Just lost to a good team. Missed PAT comes back to bite Iowa

Indiana - Wins game but fans blame defense for late drive. Huh? Iowa scored 18 points on an Indiana team that had 81 points put on them the next week. Offense was the loser of this game

Northwestern - Iowa only scores 17 points on a team that allowed 35 to a freshmen QB at Penn State, 48 to a freshmen QB at Illinois, and 70 against Wisconsin. Offense lost that game

Ohio State- Defense held OSU 20 points under their season total and 100 yards less a game. But offense could only score 17 points.

Minnesota - Only game I will give you that the defense stunk. But Iowa's offense still only scored 17 points against a 2-9 that gave up 41 to South Dakota. Not good

Had Parker been with the team all season we would have seen more adjustments and blitzes at opportune times. Parkers game prep and game day decision making experience and skills could have made the difference in defensive stops that would have put the Hawks in position to win a few more games.

We should not under estimate the value of Norm Parker in this Iowa football program.

agree with the clone here. Our offense couldn't keep our defense on the sideline, and especially against NW that killed us.
