Hawkeyes want $19.5M practice field

Isn't the main reason the program "wants" a new indoor practice facility that the UI Hospitals is planning a new childrens medical center (one Kirk and his wife support) and needs the Bubble space for employee parking?

I hardly doubt that is the main reason, but it's certainly helps disguise the reason or makes it look better in some people's eyes.

They don't want this, they are going to get this. The regents will approve it since none of the funding is from tax payers, the new facility will be ready to use for the 2012 season.

As mentioned, the Bubble is due to be torn down because it's life expectancy is just about up (I do believe those kinds of structures are meant to be good for 25-30 years). The university will take advantage of the space and use it for hospital expansion, but the expansion is not why we're getting a new facility.
