I cannot believe how much hype the NC game is getting on College Football Live, they have had BCS games to talk about all week, instead they have been breaking down the NC game! ALL WEEK, I tuned in today just to see if they would talk about the Orange Bowl, nope, instead I got to hear about McCoy and Shipley being best friends and all the quiet time they spend together.......

DOH, must have scared ESPN! They just showed a 1 min blurb on the Iowa game. Now back to McCoy and Shipley....

I am pretty sure on Tuesday they talked about some guy from USC playing in the senior bowl more than they did about the Orange Bowl.

Now I'm starting to understand the broadcasters fear of Iowa getting to the NC game. They would have to talk about something else after giving Iowa about a minute of their time, if that.

Iowa doesn't have anybody fancy on the team. ESPN needs substance for their stories. If our players ran around pounding their chests after they make a simple tackle or go on missionary trips to Ethiopia then they might pay attention to us more.

Also the game was on Fox... why would ESPN want to boost ratings for a game not on their network? (I'm talking about before the game happened.) Next year the games will be on ESPN so they'll get plenty of hype.

ESPN is a slave to thier viewers. The fact is the majority of the nation would rather coverage focus on todays title game as opposed to the Orange Bowl. The amount of time they spent on both was/is appropriate. There are numerous places to get local coverage on this game if you want it.

If they spent more time talking about last nights game everyone outside hawkeyenation would be turning the channel.

I know you are right here, but I feel it is irresponsible to fans to cover less than 2 minutes on yesterdays show and even less today.

I get where you comming from too, but I think people are too quick to play the "we get no respect card". I'd be willing to bet if we were playing for the NC there would be some thread about "I can't believe they spent 2 min breaking down Florida's win against Ga Tech in the Orange Bowl last night when we are playing for the title today!".

Bottom line is ESPN ultimately answers to it's viewers. The fact that they have been as successfull as they have been proves that most of the time they get it right. They understand they aren't going to please everyone and don't try to.

ESPN USED to answer to its viewers...now they tell the viewers what they should want to see and hear about. Why do you think we get scores from no name soccer leagues in Portugal on the bottom line or 3 average soccer plays per night making it into the Top10? I've never even heard the most staunch advocates of soccer clammering for that, yet ESPN has an agenda to make soccer more popular than it is in this country so they'll cram it down our throats...About 10 years ago ESPN got big enough to stop caring about what WE want and started moving forward on what THEY want.

Or perhaps its the fact soccer is more relevent as its world cup year and it's growing popularity. Rest assured if they DIDNT scroll a score of a soccer game from somewhere in the former Yugoslavia accross the bottom of our screen some yahoo from some soccer message board (which probably has 20 times the number of members as this one) would be screaming ESPN HATES SOCCER.

Again I'm not saying they are perfect I am saying that most of the time ESPN gets most of the stuff right, which is really all you can ask.
